@jem_arnold @BasVanHooren Pretty funny seeing a certain group pertaining to have measured the biggest VO2max ever, also using a VO2master device - one of the worst in @BasVanHooren's work - to measure off kinetics in the pool 🫣

@neuromanter @Dan_Nash94 Dan's detailed his marathon pacing approach here: And on this podcast we went into it further: Dan will have HR "ceilings" at set points within the marathon to ensure he does not run too fast early on!
I've run even or negative splits in my last 6 marathons: Manchester: 68:18/67:16 (2:15:34) Newport: 70:12/69:36 (2:19:48) Warsaw: 69:49/69:27 (2:19:16) Valencia: 67:25/67:54 (2:15:19) Newport: 72:00/70:27 (2:22:27) Belfast: 69:16/69:16 (2:18:32) A practical 🧵on marathon pacing

@SteAssent The older hobbits would tell him that he wore cheater shoes and demand an asterisks next to his time, whilst forgetting to mention that in their prime they didn't have to travel as far because the distance was measured by an elf in its car

@poetwithpace @Dan_Nash94 Not exactly, but one of the potential mechanisms is similar... Reduced renal (kidney) O2 delivery upregulates EPO. Do this in a big enough dose on a regular basis (through altitude sojourns or hot water immersion) and you get more blood.
