The public need to be made aware this is not just a Met Police issue, it’s happening all over the country. Whilst these abusers can rely on their colleagues to cover up for them, this issue will not go away and will only get worse.

They protect their own, currently going through a rape investigation against a serving police officer with Notts Police.. despite lots of evidence they have supported him and purposely done a horrific job of their investigation, including having one his friends investigate.

I am so sorry you’ve been put through this. It’s disgusting that you are being punished for daring to complain about the police; It’s such a common tactic & deterrent to victims. I reported an officer for rape, they refused to arrest him but instead reported me to social care.

My rapist and abuser is a serving police officer in Nottingham, he was never arrested or put on restricted duties and he was able to continue to have his taser throughout despite being deemed high risk of hurting me. He’ll offend again, no doubt about it. It’s not just the Met.

You’re bloody amazing! The police tried to deter me by saying it would be humiliating for me as I’d have to discuss my sex life in front of the judge & my family. In family court, the judge PRAISED my rapist for not raping me in front of the children 🤯 I was heavily pregnant!!

I’d argue that most murderers have some form of MH illness.. that should NOT rule out also being an incel or racist or homophobic . I worry that if this had been a Muslim that no one would sympathise about his MH. But this was against women, so we need to sympathise & minimise.

Notts police have an awful culture of racism and misogyny, and of not investigating the officers involved. Personally, I have been deemed high risk by one of their officers and moved address to keep safe (MARAC advice) however Notts police have never suspended or arrested him

My rapist was investigated by his own friends and colleagues. I was not allowed to go to a different force or straight to the IOPC. The process was humiliating and has made me so angry at how unjust and corrupt it was. Never again.

Yet as a victim of police perpetrated DV, & with plenty of experience of supporting those who’ve faced corruption from police.. I was actually relieved to see a police officer express that it actually wasn’t ok, and that this wasn’t acceptable or “just a joke”. So thank you x

Closing ranks and looking after their own.. their own being the officers who are committing sexual assault or who allow it to happen. It’s much more to do with limiting damage to their reputation rather than supporting victims of crime. It’s easier to pretend there’s no problem

100% .. I’ve currently been court ordered to meet and handover my children to the man who raped and beat me .. all because it ensures I can be flexible around his work pattern and even though the children are also victims of DV, his rights as a dad are prioritised over them.

Seems to be becoming a common “self diagnosed condition” that gaslights the victims. A Notts police officer (still serving) also used this as his excuse for raping me. At one point the police said they were investigating him for sexsomnia, despite me telling them it was rape.

It’s happening everywhere, including within Nottinghamshire Police. My rapist is a serving Notts police officer who kept his taser throughout the investigation, was never put on restricted duties, and never arrested. I was treated disgustingly by his colleagues and friends.

The police “cloaked” the reports I made and failed to share them with family court despite numerous requests. Crimes of the police officer (my ex) were never disclosed, and Family Court declared no safeguarding issues despite the many occasions of violence, rape and stalking.

Yes 💯 I reported rape and DV less than 2 months later (once I had safely fled the home where he lived) and this was straight away classed as “historical” and treated as if it didn’t count. I wasn’t safe enough to report before this point!

And the Chief Constable’s son was part of the WhatsApp group, wonder if that is why Notts police will not allow the Nottingham families to address the officers in a letter, and so have instead been forced to release a public statement to them.

Absolutely agree, this is not a problem to police officers when members of the public are named, no matter what their job is. Why should the police be above this? That would create a sense of impunity, which is dangerous when they are meant to be trusted with guns.

Doesn’t surprise me! Judge gave credit to my ex for not abusing me in front of the children.. he raped & restrained me whilst I was heavily pregnant & other child slept in the same bed, & my eldest reported being scared of him as she’d witnessed him screaming at me. 50:50 contact

So sorry that you’ve had the frustration of dealing with such a corrupt system. My rapist and abuser was never arrested and several incidents were not even recorded, despite him being deemed high risk to me. The police process has been such an ordeal I’d never do it again.

Absolutely this. My sister & myself (she was a witness) have been followed by police cars on many occasions, pulled over to check we had seatbelts on, & the most laughable one.. my sister was pulled over for not putting hazard lights on when police drove past her with sirens on!

Oh yes, I had a panic attack (due to refused special measures, & purposefully antagonistic & bullying barristers) & immediately told that it would “count against me” as I looked too emotional. *DV & rape victim, facing her abuser: woman still at fault* 🤯

I even tried to contact the chief constable, but it gets passed back to PSD. The system is so corrupt. I’ve made a complaint about PSD as they’ve leaked info about me to my rapist, and they’re investigating themselves and couldn’t understand why I’d think this was not impartial!

I think it’d be extremely helpful to provide information on what to do or who you can contact if you suffer retaliation from police ie “welfare visits”, inaccurate information added to your record or to social care, being over-policed as punishment

I have heard stories of how much worse my situation would’ve been dealt with if I was a female officer raising a complaint about a colleague. I’ve heard stories of perpetrators promoted and victims managed out of the job. It shouldn’t be that way!

I was advised by my solicitor in family court that Judges don’t like it when you mention domestic abuse so it’s best not to. They get paid to deal with it, whether they like it or not.

My rapist was protected by his police colleagues, and I was treated like the criminal. And they then “cloaked” the information from Family Court so that they made a safeguarding decision without knowing he was being investigated for rape and domestic abuse against me.
