To be clear, the settlement amount isn't even the sticker price of a new Lexus. We're glad to have it for unexpected complications in the future and accomodations for his injury but it's not, like, quit your job money. Lump sums just FEEL rich.

This thread has stuck with me all week. Washing my dishes tonight, I felt so full of rage. A medical provider who refuses treatment on a trans individual isn't protecting their own beliefs - they are viewing someone as less than human & threatening their life. It is evil.
Because here's the thing: discrimination of this kind is not rare. We don't know how many LGBTQ people have died for being refused treatment on the basis of their sexual orientation or gender identity.

Trisomy 18 is brutal. From what I remember, >50% with it die in utero - that turned our to be our case. Those who are born often do not live long - sometimes hours. I respect any family who choose that birth as right for them. It was NOT for us and our other kiddo.

I don't know the specifics of the case - and we shouldn't! This shouldn't be publicly debated!. In general, terminating a pregnancy and/or removing the fetus is safer for the patient at a lower gestational age. The sooner, the more options for ensuring their health & fertility.

COVID mitigation doesn't have "cheat days." I can't just throw it all out the window and assume that bc I'm careful the rest of the week with the kids, it evens out.
We're not used to that on health decisions. It does, in fact, suck
