First hand reports from Medecins sans Frontieres of unarmed civilians and medical staff being shot as they emerge from Al-shifa hospital. Power cut to neonatal ITU condemning 39 babies to near-certain death. Does one horrific crime justify another? Surely not. This must stop.

In which “banana republic” does the leader of the government threaten the chief of police of the capital city for refusing to ban a peaceful protest? Hmm let me see.. oh yes! It’s land of hope and glory - mother of the free! Unless they publicly express wrong opinions of course..

I’m looking for evidence on climate driven migration. Specifically I’m trying to find out if anyone has modelled likely international migration flows when average temperatures reach 2.5C higher than baseline of 1970s. Current research can’t help much as it uses current data.

@KenCatchpole @RESPONDStudy @CHFTNHS @NDSurgicalSci Hi Ken! We’re not changing the Sens/Spec ratio of the NEWS2 based system so expect false alarms to remain stable, or rise a bit due to increased awareness. Spare capacity in the NHS right now is another story I’m afraid 😧

@WanderingGaia It’s so disappointing to see Labour figures showing such timidity and lack of leadership on this crucial issue. Politicians who want to lead need to frame a vision and inspire, not slavishly follow what “many people say” to quote Mr Trump’s favourite phrase.

@MishalHusain @meropemills @BBCr4today @paullaity @BBCSounds @meropemills congratulations! I wish you every success. But I’d love to share with you some research which I think you need to know about. There are good reasons for believing legislation wont work without Human Factors interventions with NHS staff.

@meropemills congratulations on getting Labour on board! A law will help - but laws are often ignored where people feel untouchable. The “wicked” problem is culture, as Lord Francis said. I want what you want - but we need good science to find out how to how to fix the culture.

@meropemills @meropemills I am so sorry to hear about the tragic loss of your daughter. I applaud what you are doing, as have others like @JamesTitcombe and @MartinBromiley. I’m a surgeon and I research how such mistakes can be prevented. Sadly, solutions are difficult.

@WanderingGaia to have a hopeful answer to my question, we need to imagine how helping could be doable. Your book is inspiring because it encourages us to do that. Maybe not all of the ideas are feasible, but so much better to light a candle than curse the darkness!

@WanderingGaia @WanderingGaia your book had a huge impact on me. Like many people, I’ve felt worried about climate change for years, especially because of thinking about when billions in hotter areas have no choice but to move. Will we help them or keep them out and watch them die?
