@CraicAgusCeoil It's about 30 minutes to Lilliputt on the South of the Lake. There's not a lot to be found about Butler's Bridge online but it's at the north end of Lough Ennell and is supposed to be a great spot for the Starlings with lots of reed beds there.

@CraicAgusCeoil I know. I'm originally from Tullamore & had never been to Lough Ennell until I read James' book & went scoping out spots to see the Starlings late last year. I want to check out Butler's Bridge too. The great thing is that now I know where to find them, I can go back every year.

@CraicAgusCeoil That's exactly what happened to me when I went there over Christmas. I'll have another shot next weekend and am hoping I can pick the right spot. I was at Lilliputt and am thinking of trying the Bloomfield House Hotel next time as a few people have had good photos from there.

@cianbirder Hi Cian. Whereabouts were you for these? I went to Lilliput when I was home at Christmas two evenings but they were only really starting and very far away the second evening. I was thinking of trying Butler's Bridge or the Broomfield House Hotel next weekend when I'm up.

@SuzanneWalsh_ Yours look more solid that most examples I've seen online but there may be a good bit of variation depending on how long it has been lying there and how long it was in the other animal's stomach. Lovely stuff!

@SuzanneWalsh_ @pondsntrees I don't know enough to be certain or if there's anything it could be confused with. Star jelly isn't a slime mold but bits of amphibians that birds and other predators can't digest that they vomit up. There's a good explanation here

I've loved seeing the videos of the Crane from Carlow and Kilkenny people have been posting. It's a winter visitors but after Ireland being without resident Cranes for about 300 years, we've had a breeding pair somewhere on a bog in Offaly for the last few years. What a bird.

@LharaMullins I batch cook and freeze vegetable soup, chicken stew and individual portions of pasta sauce. I also a loin of bacon every often and cube it up in individual portions in the freezer for pasta, omelettes, quiches etc. Chop & cook once for many meals. So satisfying.

Limerick band Some Images of Paradise are playing Pharmacia on Feb 20th. I love to hear a band who are totally doing their own thing.

Someone here earlier was upset that they needed to go to the Mater Public A&E but there were 48 people there on trollies & the wait to be seen would be long. Living in Limerick, I've become so accustomed to 100 being the norm that for a second it didn't seem so bad. Both are.

@SuzanneWalsh_ I was going to go for another look but it's pelting rain now. I'm always amazed how half the country can be looking at some spectacle in the night sky, while the rest of us can see nothing but clouds.
