So I looked some stuff up and the numbers are just messed up.
Kuo mixed up chassis size with screen diagonal.
The Series 9 has a 1.9" screen. In mm that's 48.3. And the rumor now says the next one is 49mm.
The smaller one has 1.7". In mm that's 43.2. And the rumor now says 45
Looks like Apple will stop making the 41mm and switch to just making the 45mm as the new small display and the Ultra’s 49mm as the new large.
This likely means flat displays like Ultra across the board but thinner and without a crown guard.
My renders:
This is Apple.
People always assume that Apple is selling overpriced shit while in reality they often go 20 extra miles and use MUCH more expensive production processes just to improve stuff a tiny bit that people often don't even notice or think about.
There's a lot of cool tech in Vision Pro, but if you know anything about sewing, you'll know why the headstrap and cover are insane. As far as I can tell, this isn't multiple pieces of fabric cut out and sewn together... it's one continuous structure.
They're getting different
Here's a deep dive on how we developed a new semi-custom 2880x1920 120Hz refresh rate panel for the Framework Laptop 13 and why the corners of the display are rounded:
One of the most annoying "evolutions" with the iPhones camera.
This is iPhone XR vs 14 Pro and their minimal focus distance with the main camera. It's a joke how TERRIBLE the iPhone is there nowadays.
We went from ~8cm/2.5" to like 20cm/8"
Finally got to take a screenshot of this shit that has been there for literally years now and Apple isn't doing ANYTHING to fix it 🙃
Ffs fix the lockscreen finally. It feels like 90% of all bugs in iOS17 are Lockscreen related...
tech bubble:
"Apple has bad AI"
Base for this take:
- Siri
Ignoring:
- image object recognition
- Music Karaoke
- Live Photos video upscaling
- Adaptive Transparency
- best Smartwatch sleep-tracking
- visual lookup
- PDF auto-fill detection
- much more
RIP to all those wallpapers that Apple straight up killed with iPadOS 17 🤡 all those dynamic dark/light mode wallpapers are just GONE for absolutely nothing.
This wallpaper could've been SO nice (left) if they didn't put this stupid word there but instead just did some strings or whatever with these animations.
Instagram: 3.16GB
Twitter: 1.06GB
Paypal: 403MB
Amazon: 355MB
And so much more
Why and WHAT on earth are these apps storing that they take up such an ridiculous amount of space.
I remember being able to work with 16GB like 6-7 years ago and now Instagram alone takes up 1/4 that
It's funny but also a bit sad and embarrassing how Apple messed up this in the AW Ultra ad. They just ignored the bezel.
Wasn't Apple used to actually film their devices instead of cheaply adding it later? 🙃 the make more and more mistakes there...
@luciascarlet
I will never understand why people use the battery saving mode to begin with, let alone from the beginning 😅
It kinda just doesn't save any battery
This feels kinda weird.
In Photos there's an animation with the Photos icon but it's the 3D one from visionOS? The App icon itself is the same flat one as before
@UpIsNotJump
I hate this seemingly automatic "made for kids" label 💀 one of the worst things on YouTube. This should be a setting in the app in general and NOT for specific videos and then done automatically
@MaxJmb
@tomwarren
They all do that.
Apple also does stuff like giving people different information so they know who leaked it when one said the next iPhone has f/1.78 while someone else gets the info it's f/1.79 etc.
@_arj123
Just no.
Especially phone and messages and Notes and this shitty Journal App.
This wouldn't simplify things. It would only create four apps that are messed up and way too cluttered.
People really seem to not know where Apple is already using a ton of machine learning.
The "problem" is that it just works so good that people don't even notice it and therefore don't think about it.
And some are still stuck with thinking only the assistant is using "AI"
@theJoshMeister
@SamiFathi_
Reading the release note became quite useless tho since all app devs nowadays just copy&paste it every single time unless there's a huge v2.0 update or whatever...
@tuxedo_jules
Tbh this goes for so many apps and programs these days. They don't get optimized at all anymore.
That's why a literal web app like PayPal is 300-500MB on phones, all MS Office apps are like 2+GB EACH and so on
@nottscooterr3
People don't liked it because they can't press them blindly with being just touch. I think that was the main argument against it even tho it can display them
@jmwilt21
the multitasking features on MacOS are SO much better mainly because of the actual easy swipe between different desktops. It makes it almost feel like having 2 monitors. Windows on the other hand is a nightmare with just one actual screen.
And there are cheap apps like Magnet.
Like seriously. What an enormous amount of garbage code is there?
PayPal and Amazon in particular are literally just websites that they use as their "app". How can these two alone take up 800MB...
@FullyFolded
"It's just an unorganised mess"
It's pretty much the opposite... It's chronological, how it should be and it's grouped by context instead of just by app.
And you can only go back from one side because swipe from the right means "forward".
@dsurkov_
Literally nothing out there so far is AI. It's all machine learning and all what I mentioned above - except for Siri, funny enough - is using machine learning.
And if Apple doesn't care about this and doesn't address it, it could potentially get even worse with the 16 Pro since the main sensor is rumored to get a lot bigger.
And just for those who somehow say that the UW macro mode is a good alternative, this is a comparison of the UW Macro mode compared to an iPhone from 2018(!).
The XR (right) is just so much better in every way. And the difference to the 14 Pro main sensor is even bigger of course
Not-so-hot take:
The iPhone 14 Pro had BY FAR the best "white" color. And the 15 Pro is by far the worst and is just as bad at being "white" as the iPhone 15 blue is bad at being "blue". It's just gray.
@appleintro
That fade effect at the top of the video is kinda terrible tho. And really not something Apple would do or even does. Apple has their "card" design for stuff like that, not a fade that literally partly blocks content
Besides that I can't believe they haven't updated them at all.
No H2 chip,
no precision finding (I think?)
no improved battery life like at least 30 hours
no lossless
no Bluetooth 5.3
no actual case
There is SO much potential for improvement...
@lucidstarfield
@MKBHD
They literally can't do it on the iPad Pro. The charging hardware and magnets for the Apple Pencil 2 are located there so there's is no space to put a whole camera (and FaceID hardware) there.
@zollotech
Didn't even knew this is damn possible... is there even enough space in this thing to have like storage and stuff to get a damn update.
An Update for a cable. Ridiculous
@Chase_Drawz
That's not an animation error 😅 it would look completely off if the eyes would actually look in the exact same direction. Simply because of the form of his eyes.
@DurvidImel
Apples Trade-ins are always just hot garbage. For my only a year old 13 Pro I would also only get 470€. So a 70% value drop within a year according to Apple...
@UniverseIce
Kinda funny because Xiaomi is still one of those companies that creates the most fake selfies for example.
But yeah, oversharpening is terrible and Apple definitely has to take like 10 steps back here. It's ridiculous at this point
@AaplParody
This looks so bad 😂
But even then, there's no way I would switch back to Android. I just hate the missing love for details, animation etc. as soon as you actually look at it closer, Android just looks and feels cheap. It's just that.
@oneandonlyagust
@RealJoseph123
@theapplehub
But on the other hand the iPhone 7 was one of the biggest improvements overall.
IP67, stearo speakers, first telephoto cam in a smartphone, the solid-state homebutton etc.
@concept_central
@Mrwhosetheboss
Probably because Siri can often only do basic stuff while Alexa or Google can do fancier stuff.
AND Siri is so useless when you're not English... in German it often understands stuff wrong or whatever
@TailosiveTech
And that's why people should stop acting like Samsung already delivered 7 years of support just because of a plain promise. So far they haven't done anything.
@AndreasDettlaff
@MacRumors
Not really. Incognito mode only means that it doesn't save passwords, logins and your browser history locally. It never meant that Google doesn't collect anything
@AnxiousHolly
I mean when you keep ALL your photos on your phone... 🙃 in that case I would also need the 1TB one 😂 but I only keep parts of that so I'm totally fine with 256GB and have 100GB free
@zaheen555
How exactly is that a copy?
the design is completely different from front AND back, the only similarities are the antenna bands which are simply a necessity because of the aluminium.
