I don’t see a benefit here. 35 guys already fighting for 27 scholarships that are limited to 11.7. We pay a lot for our son to play D1 b/c of the limited scholarships - and he cannot get a job to supplement his income except for Sunday afternoon pitching lessons in off season.

Agreed. You punish a SEC team’s student athletes simply for being in the SEC b/c of the notion that we “must” or “should” spread out hosts over more conferences. Participation trophy mentality. You either earn it on the metrics and your season resume, or you don’t.

Summer sports & camps have been going all summer. The rise in cases is not in the under 18 population. And for the few under 18 cases I’ve seen, all were asymptomatic or a mild headache for a day or two. Data worldwide shows kids rarely contract it & even rarer is transmitting it

Had the same experience & wouldn’t have changed a thing. Summer baseball for both my boys kept all of us sane and it truly felt normal - very few if any masks (unless a particular park mandated it) and families from all over SC spending weekends together at hotels/restaurants

And it’s so frustrating b/c college athletics are pressuring young male athletes into getting the vax against their will. We have a family history of heart/circulation issues and they ask my college freshman son weekly to get vaccinated so he can play baseball. Scares me to death

Scientists have long since reduced that 70-80% herd immunity figure down to 20-40%. Plus as many as 20-30% of population is estimated to be resistant to Covid naturally. Makes herd immunity a very real possibility and sooner rather than later

I get having a 1-time transfer opportunity w/o sitting out. But it should be 1 time. Not multiple opportunities like we have with waivers being freely given & allowing grads to transfer a 2nd/3rd time. Look at some of these guys - they have transferred 3x - all w/o sitting out.
