This is horrifying on so many levels. What can we do to slow down and hopefully stop this escalation in child labor? Besides ensuring parents have livable wages (or increasing SSI if parent is disabled). Unionizing? Is that enough? Federal age/hour worked min/max?
A new Iowa law lets kids drive to a job unsupervised when they’re as young as 14 and a half.
The state says these kids need to get to work.
Iowa enables child labor as young as 14 until 11 p.m. in the summer, 9 p.m. during the school year, and up to six hours on a school day.
