I believe we are on the verge of an explosion in demand for authentic human first experiences.
Genuine artistic works and experiences will be highly valued as synthetic content explodes.
Sit tight. Good times afoot for artists 🙂

As an African the biggest prize *by far* I received from 20 years of paying taxes in America is my US passport. The freedom western citizens have to move around the world peddling influence is one of the most underreported, unstudied areas of structural inequality today /1

In an increasingly globalizing world if you can’t travel you might as well be on Mars
Chasing down VISAs for every single destination that might be important to an African professional/global actor is HARD and DISTRACTING
It virtually grounds you rendering you irrelevant /2

The school is net native, delivering classes purely online which abstracts the people element of physical schools.

So this just happened. Why do some white women feel like can objectify black men with no consequences? It's happened to me 3 times before
At Impact Africa Network everyday is Women's Day.
This is because we are committed to empowering our women and currently 7 out of 10 leadership positions are occupied by women.

We are in a bad place.
When all you have relied on to bend reality is ruthless force, that is where you will retreat to and set up camp.

No matter how successful you become in your own eyes, always remember you are just a human being.
Do not become a victim of an inflated identity.
Revel in the freedom of authenticity, simplicity, and humility.

Returned to SF this week on business after moving to Nairobi in March where my state of mind has healed to a smiley zen (mostly) ☺️
The hostility I experienced yesterday in my shared Lyft ride was straight up PTSD level shit
Back to Silicon Savanna tomorrow
So happy I moved 😃
@asemota
It’s amazing how some people don’t see others as whole and complete human beings with full and demanding lives.
The ability to put oneself in another’s shoes requires both wisdom and imagination. Two rather rare commodities.
They asked for a Ugandan thread and they will get it 😂
My first impressions about Uganda were very different from what the media had portrayed as I was growing up. Field Marshall Idi Amin Dada was the predominant image of the country and we knew nothing else. MTN changed that.
To think we have created 20 jobs, graduated 2 cohorts of budding Data Scientists, all within 12 months and in the midst of a pandemic is truly remarkable.
Who would have thought?
Onwards & upwards! 🚀

@Noahpinion
Can unequivocally vouch for this. Last year I moved from Silicon Valley back to Nairobi to help bridge gap for local founders and establish the startup ecosystem. Took 2 years and $400k personal resources to identify and setup the right approach
Great people are great givers.

Never thought about it before, but you know that famous picture of a bunch of construction workers sitting on a girder way up in the sky and having lunch? Well, here's the photographer who took that picture: Charles C. Ebbets.

Steve Jobs says no. People love oversimplification because it makes them feel safe. Two things can be true at the same time. Wisdom is knowing which is true now.

The pandemic may have been what we needed to truly begin to understand how utterly transformative this internet thing is.
We are decades away from realizing the internet’s true value and Africa couldn’t be better place to ride that wave.
Nothing will be the same.

So this used to happen to us ALL the time in SF in 2010/11
Used to ask friendly looking white strangers to hail cabs for us. Worked all the time. For us, Lyft and Uber meant freedom to actually get somewhere without being made to feel like shit. Totally forgot about this
We simply will not be denied. We will not back down. We will not falter.
We will continue to persecute the opportunity before us with flint faced resolve and unwavering determination.
