On the way home from our staff retreat yesterday, we strolled down the lovely Berry Open Street in Williamsburg, currently undergoing a permanent redesign. It was full of neighbors peacefully enjoying a gorgeous late summer evening. Good things are possible when there's the will!
MYTH: You can get on the LIE or Lincoln Tunnel instead of
"getting off of one highway" [BQE] to shave off a couple minutes.
FACT: The Lincoln Tunnel connects Manhattan to New Jersey & is under the Hudson River. The Queens Midtown Tunnel is in LIC.
Thank you, Mayor for hearing the concerns of 5,600+ residents and businesses. Our voices are finally being heard! Now, we want to work alongside NYC DOT and to be included in all future endeavors.
While you’re here, SIGN & SHARE the petition! 💚🧡

sat back allowing this culture clash reach a boiling point. Both pols openly support Make McGuinness Safe and have yet to publicly acknowledge the groups actions that continue to cause disarray among neighbors.
Many thousands of Greenpointers have voiced their support of the McGuinness Blvd redesign, but the administration has one again failed to deliver on its promises - all while 2023 is on track to be one of the deadliest years for pedestrians
Endangering 🚴♀️ by putting a bike lane on a truck route only to endanger residents & cyclists on residential streets that will see up to 40% of the diverted traffic from McGuinness Blvd - doesn’t make much sense now does it?
More importantly, it doesn’t seem too safe, now does it?
We voted early!
You can vote any day until Sunday, Nov 5 or Election Day, Tuesday, Nov 7!

I have absolutely loved serving the community that raised me and would be honored to have your support for 2 more years!
Thank you
@TheBKReader
for contacting us directly to interview members of KMM for this article! This was the first time a journalist reached out to us directly. We are deeply appreciative for the opportunity! 💚
KMM founder, Averianna, calls out local pols & organizations responsible for the war on cars in NYC in an Op-Ed for BK Reader. McGuinness Blvd became CM Restler’s & AM Gallagher’s pet project that was originally spearheaded by TransAlt volunteers.
LET’S GOOOO!!! It’s time to show
@nycmayor
just how many of us are opposed to all the proposed plans presented by DOT and supported by
@EmilyAssembly
, &
@LincolnRestler
! We need everyone to join us as we march to KEEP MCGUINNESS MOVING
@NYC_DOT
@NYCMayor
Learn from other cities mistakes, we don’t want this on McGuinness Blvd.
@EmilyAssembly
&
@LincolnRestler
want to use Greenpoint as their
@TransAlt
(multimillionaire funded lobby) rat lab. Greenpoint’s livelihood should not be jeopardized by your experiment.
We heard a terrible accident that occurred last night on Nassau & McGuinness.
A witness informed us that a cyclist ran a red light & was hit by a car.
The witness approached the scene & discovered that the cyclist was intoxicated. The driver remained on scene. No arrest was made
As a constituent on West Street, I am extremely concerned about the traffic, speeding and accidents that will only get worse when 12,000 vehicles find new routes in our neighborhood.
NYC DOT conducted a car volume study in 2021 at the height of the pandemic. According to their study, 800-1300 vehicles travel on McGuinness Blvd per hour during peak hours. Peak hours are from 6am - 8pm.
A single car travel lane can handle only 700 vehicles per hour.
Remember when we got a bomb threat and
@LincolnRestler
&
@EmilyAssembly
didn’t think it was an appropriate time to finally speak up against the violence their group has been exhibiting ?
They’re still silent on all of it to this day!
One of our core members speaking against threats attached below. Can anyone in the MMS coalition including
@LincolnRestler
or
@EmilyAssembly
say the same? Nope.
Interesting how
@KMcguinnessM
incessantly whines about getting threats (without ever sharing them, strange) when their members are just straight up threatening violence against their neighbors.
All good with this?
@KMcguinnessM
including seniors. Two days later, Make McGuinness Safe posted stories alleging violence while maintaining claims that they were quiet & peaceful. But this is a lie. We received multiple complaints about the physical contact & intimidation our supporters faced at the hands of MMS
Members of our group - Keep McGuinness Moving have been harassed, doxxed, intimidated, and bullied by MMS members and supporters. Their disdain for KMM and supporters is spreading and more visible as the community becomes more vocal in our fight to preserve our main artery.
McGuinness Blvd must be a safe thoroughfare and is wrong for a bike lane. The recently implemented bike lane and that opposition letter only prove us right.
Elected officials in Greenpoint say
@NYCMayor
's compromise on McGuinness Boulevard has done "nothing" for pedestrians, and urge
@NYC_DOT
to return to the original plan:
@LincolnRestler
@EmilyAssembly
your constituents are extremely worried about the 12,000 vehicles that will be diverted onto their streets DAILY. You have miserably failed as leaders as the larger part of your residents’ concerns in Greenpoint are still being ignored.
into the sea of Keep McGuinness Moving supporters. Several other MMS organizers and supporters followed suit. They invaded our supporters space, pushed through the crowd, shoved their signs in peoples faces, leaned into them from behind, and antagonized several rally attendees,
This is 100% PREVENTABLE in Greenpoint. We should not have to risk emergency services reaching extremely time sensitive events in time because of a “road diet.” SIGN OUR PETITION 🖊️
Once 4 lane 9th Ave is now down to 2 lanes, forcing Ladders to reach further. Luckily, the 1st due TL35 is now a 95ft Tower & were able to just make the roof, but most Towers are 75ft. Having a longer ladder means having to navigate wider turns.

Shortly before 11pm, just blocks away from Banker's Anchor, a cyclist that appeared to be intoxicated ran a red light & was struck by a car on Nassau &McGuinness, according to the witness. Was the cyclist leaving the Bike + Brew, that was advertised by the “safety” crew?
Tuesday, September 12th - Keep McGuinness Moving held their very first rally. We are saddened to say that Make McGuinness Safe organizers and volunteers planned a counterprotest. What began as a peaceful demonstration soon changed after one of the MMS lead organizers charged
Looks like there was a
Bike + Brew event that ended at Banker's Anchor. Though drinking & cycling appears to be legal, we advise against it. It is clearly very dangerous & could be deadly.
The plan that
@EmilyAssembly
,
@LincolnRestler
, &
@nyc_dot
are trying to force on our residents will create unsafe conditions not only on McGuinness, but on the surrounding streets the residents of Greenpoint live on.
Drinking & biking without a helmet almost cost this cyclist their life.
They are very lucky to be alive.
We wish the cyclist a speedy recovery.
Be safe out there everyone.
Let’s make our streets safe, beautiful and climate resilient! Let’s Make

Typical
@emilyassembly
behavior- going out of her way to ignore her constituents- we see you Emily- you can pretend that you don’t see us and you can pretend that you care about our opinions… but you walked right past us (pic 1).
You are NYCDOT liaison for a censored audience
The MMS petition was circulated by the same group that advertised a Bike + Brew that ended at Banker's Anchor
(Banker & Nassau)
Stories posted between 9 & 10pm.
Direct link to business opposed to “Make McGuinness Safe.” Our list is accurate.
The entire truth of the redesign was thoroughly explained to each business to which they then stated their opposition.
@LincolnRestler
prioritized outreach for just a few Citi Bike docks in Williamsburg.
However, he didn’t bother engaging with Greenpoint residents and businesses about McGuinness Blvd which is undoubtedly a way bigger, disruptive project.
Why was Kathy, a PAID TransAlt lobbyist allotted time to speak @ CB1 meeting?She doesn’t live in Greenpoint. Actual residents were not given time to speak though they had signed up to. CB1 didn’t allow anyone to speak in opposition of the plan & they were cut off if they did.

Less than half a block on 1 side of McGuinness Blvd (in between Nassau & Norman) was closed off due to construction, making it one lane. The traffic on the boulevard due to just half of one block being blocked off was backed up all the way to the Pulaski Bridge.
TA named Bronwyn TA activist of the year. Kevin uses DOT to police constituents. He also lies about businesses supporting MMS. He did the same on Meeker & Berry. He has also harassed many women through out Greenpoint & Williamsburg.
But somehow our local pols are their besties
You continue to align yourself with that coalition that censors public feedback and admittedly said that they do not give any negative feedback of their design to the DOT. You are one sided, you do not believe in democracy. You also evade questions with seldom responses.
Peter Pan Donuts happens to be one of the many businesses who have been wrongfully smeared, wrongfully harassed, and wrongfully left bad reviews due to their concerns and wish for NYC DOT to explore different safety measures. So, be sure to swing by and show them some love. 🍩 💚
All the studies we have been shown are the effects of a road diet on a commercial zone, not an industrial business zone. Industrial businesses & workers in & surrounding Greenpoint are worried about the negative impact a road diet can have on their livelihoods.
@Bedford_Knight
Oh, let’s not forget that Bronwyn has repeatedly called it Morgan
Street, not Morgan Avenue several times now. How can you be such an activist when you don’t even know the names of the streets you want to change?
