Essential for networks to recognize going forward that the likes of Roy Blunt are the problem. Not accessories to the problem: *are* the problem. Yet despite their continued election denialism, I suspect we’ll see them invited on to merrily sow hypocritical anti-Biden attacks.

In recent days, horrifying stories of law enforcement abusing reporters have emerged from Portland. One agent kneeled on a photojournalist's back. Another punched a reporter in the head. Another cocked a gun at a 17-year-old high-school journalist. They all were tear-gassed. /1

Can we stop clipping moments where Fox personalities meet absolute-minimum standards of sanity and sharing them around as A Big Deal already? The Tucker clip is a good example—yes, he's skeptical of the conspiracy, but the language he uses to pad his skepticism is still WILD.

Since Chuck Todd is in the news, I’d note that he didn’t ask Joe Manchin a single question this morning about the environmental impact of, or his financial connection to, the Mountain Valley Pipeline, only about how he won it in negotiations. I think that says a lot about his MTP

Very revealing moment on Meet the Press today, when Chuck Todd told Pat Toomey: “my title is moderator but I’d also like to be mediator here,” referring to what Chris Murphy had just said. This is clearly how journalists like him see their jobs: to broker bipartisan compromise.

Laura Ingraham's take on the Kentucky elections must be seen to be believed: "That is the power of Donald Trump... This is all very good news for Republicans."

Back in March, I spoke with Jamal #Khashoggi for a broad @CJR piece on media coverage of Saudi Arabia. Following reports that he was murdered by Saudi officials in the country's Istanbul consulate last week, we're publishing the full interview with him.

A week ago, a crime reporter in the Netherlands was shot after leaving a TV studio. The next day, a Turkish journalist in exile in Germany was attacked by his home. Four days after that, a Georgian journalist who was beaten by homophobic rioters died. /1

Why the pained lexical contortion to avoid the word "racist" in coverage of Trump's tweets? To be fair, lots of outlets *did* use it directly. But there are still so many euphemisms around, as we saw previously with Trump and the word "lie." /1

BBC Four was going to show an England Women’s international football match tonight, but has instead cancelled all programming. The BBC will however still show the match but it’ll be hidden away as online iplayer stream and not on a traditional channel as a... show of respect?
