I don’t follow…This is the whole point of looking again at the mayoral system. The structure of the current system (as Rees has defined it) dictates that councillors are unable to effectively scrutinise the mayor, hold him to account or impact decision-making.

Strong statement on Barton House from Tower Blocks UK, the charity co-founded by respected architect and campaigner Sam Webb. Webb was an expert on Large Panel System buildings and did a large amount of research on the construction of Ronan Point, which collapsed in 1968.
We maintain that Barton House, due to its inherent design flaws, remains at risk of structural collapse in the event of fire, impact, gas explosion or high winds. In our opinion the new report offers no reassurances &
