I’ve been noticing the same. Covid infections increase people’s risk appetite and combine that with the constant messaging that Covid is just a cold, people are sleep walking into a potential disaster.
We're not prepared for the next pandemic, but it isn't primarily to do with testing capacity or protective equipment or surveillance systems.
We're not ready because most people now think that the way to deal with a pandemic is to pretend there is no pandemic.

It seems like most things humans need to function are now considered radical. Rest is radical. Not wanting to get sick is radical. Wanting to work less hours and be able to afford a house is radical. Even stating you don’t want people to die is radical. This isn't sustainable.

Poor baby. I almost lost the little kitten I rescued at the beginning of the pandemic. He either gave it to me or I gave it to him. He’s fine now and I’m still messed up. My dog that health had been in decline since, passed yesterday.

Once it’s broken it’s near impossible to go back to how it was. To think medicine will cure everyone is absolute pie in the sky.
