Generally, I agree with "dont judge a (tttrpg) book by its cover" but I agree with Gabe here. If a product is presented and lay people can't understand enough to decide what it actually is, its useless to them and the the presentation needs to be reconsidered.

All the praise is well deserved. I just finished Theft of Fire and I don't know how to fully articulate the effect it's had on me other than to say: I haven't been this genuinely entertained in a long time. After devouring this book over a day and a half I feel refreshed.

According to the RAW for Strahd the Escape trait requires air to be able to move through a space. Considering you suffocate in a Cube, Strahd is stuck unless the cube deals magical acid damage.

I used to scale all the time. Now I modify encounters to make them more interesting. Instead of just being a room with a flaming skull and zombies, the flaming skull now resists all damage down to 1 and to make it vulnerable for a round you have to kill two zombies first.
Ran a level 2 dungeon today for level 8 characters.
I was tempted to scale it up, but they had fun splitting the party and intentionally triggering every trap to see what would happen. Everyone should try this once!

writers have something similar where they have a scene or an idea and the words just dont do it justice.
I think one of the best ways to get around this is to take the idea and mess it up. Make it into a caricature that barely resembles the original idea.

They shouldn't nerf movement or ads with snipers but should definitely nerf movement+ads in general. I appreciate being able to challenge corners with an ability plus slide hopping but there should be way more accuracy penalty doing so

I think a non monetary example is how we enforce behavior standards rather than encouraging them. Its cheaper (time,money) at first to wave a gun in someone's face to get them to behave (taxes,laws) but it builds up an emotional debt. The interest is costly.

Engagement is king. With that being said, I hand craft every setting I play in. However, I don't expect my players to enact some grand design in my head. TTRPGs are multiplayer games, not story time or an interactive novel.
Player engagement is all that matters. I want to read about more games where the story is put in the players hands and the GM is there to roll on random tables and arbitrate.
