There was a cinderblock wall in an alley that separated us from a canal. Us kids slowely picked it apart and make it a secret enterence. I went back a few years ago and it hard been turned into a city gate/entry. I’m so proud of that fact.

I live 18 miles from Santa Monica, It's 2pm. I live near union station. By car, it's 27 minutes. By rail which takes a similar route, it's 1 hour 34 mins. It's really hard to beat point-to-point transport. It's why NYC has the longest commute times in the USA.

Nah, europe just has this weird thing against spices and it’s why the immigrant places are so tasty. Curries and sauces are amazing. The flavors in Tokyo make American cuisine taste like American chai sine compared to most of Western Europe.

My girlfriend and I were talking about this yesterday. There are 5 or so streets in LA that would be utterly world class if they were made pedestrian/bike friendly. Could you imagine Lincoln and sunset? Sunset would be from union to the sea. Instantly a tourist attraction.

That’s the point, the richest city in America, and all the citizens complain and think the government will fix it, instead of putting the work in. Cities that solve homelessness solve it with volunteers and people.

I don’t like sparkling water but the bathtub comment is strange to me. No one does bathrooms better than America and every shifty apartment I have ever lived in had a nicer tub than any other country I have ever been too. -btw I have a bidet and kettle.

Da fuq, American water is drinkable and when in Europe you often have to ask whether tap is drinkable, much of the east is not. I’ve never had ice cold water out of the tap in Europe -also this would be horrific for the plumbing

Phoenix to flagstaff. Extremely large weekend travel route. Moderate large weekday travel route. Direct flights cost $600 round and fill up. Bus routes full and slow. Has a nice downtown amtrak -that’s also always full from Los Angeles. Works as a leg towards Vegas.

Define stable services because nearly every service I can think of works better in my suburban house than city house. From transit, to landscaping, parks, roads, bike paths etc. even the schools and shelters are better.

It’s for people who don’t want to be bothered. It’s basically a rich person small town. The actual neighborhoods are quite friendly but you can’t even tell you can access them from the PCH. Lots or ranches up there too.

I have a pet peeve of people complaining about no more 24 hour stores and also wanting wages to be higher. I agree wages should be higher but that’s also why we don’t have 24 hour stores. Higher wages mean stores only open when wages can be paid.
