I think it also has to do with not having access to a lot of fresh food.. cause it tends to be poorer countries.. spice will mask odd flavours. Say you have meat on the verge to go bad.. it won’t make you sick but it tastes weird already.. add some chimichurri: problem solved

In the novel Good characters completely dismiss these differences and Evil characters make distinctions. The Dudleys discriminated against Harry for being a wizard. They didn't like it. The Malfoys discriminate against the muggleborn.

We are also told in the entire UK, the country with the biggest wizardry school in the world, there are 3000 wizards, in total. UK total population in 1998 was 58 million. One in 20,000 people would be a wizard. Wouldn't a dominant genetic trait have a bigger population split?
