The perception, understanding and value of Sport Psychology will be hard to change without qualified & accredited professionals (CPsychol, BASES, ProfDoc, HCPC) working directly within performance environments.
Too often are these services outsourced to unqualified consultants.

The physical & psychological demands placed on players & staff at the pinnacle of professional sport is incomparable to many professions.
I empathise with your comments & your mentality is admirable, but you cannot make these assumptions from the outside looking in.
Absolute madness,
I’ve worked 40 hours a week since I was 16 sometimes 60 hours with overtime, I still play football 2 times a week and go the gym 5 times a week at the age of 35.
These footballers make me laugh. Life of luxury.

Interesting take, Cally. In elite football, coaches draw on various practitioners within a multidisciplinary team to ensure that the needs of the players are met (S&C, Nutrition, Psychology, Analysis).
You're suggesting GP is 'weak' because he's utilising specialist support? 😂
More I think of it, there is genuinely no good way of spinning this appointment for Graham Potter. Man with an emotional intelligence degree needs someone to come in and sort the mentality out. He really is weak.

Fantastic article! Many parents live vicariously through their children to "make up" for missed opportunities in their own sporting careers. There's also a significant social element that I witness on a weekly basis, an attachment to a group and a perceived elitism.
