@drewsnx The reality is that even in the 70s I could cycle as a child on an A road in Lincs. because cars were slower, less traffic. When I moved to Forest Hill, SE London in '73, I stopped cycling because it wasn't practical. In '81 I cycled to Aldridge from Kingstanding. Had scares.

@Psythor Most European cities have decent transport systems, using trains, trams and buses where appropriate. They also seem to have buses that tell you where you are, as easy to use as trams & trains, are clean and used by anybody, not seen as some sort of punishment for previous sins.

@BInvestigates So, presumably as they gave evidence under oath, that will be a perjury charge if they were explicitly asked (7 years max). If it was just concealment, preventing evidence from being given to a statutory Inquiry is an offence of itself (51 week maximum prison sentence).

@newsboy23 We don't need to know about her private life. We do need to know what services were provided to the nation that deserved her ennoblement. Without a clear justification it is reasonable to presume a nefarious purpose.

@AdsCondron @gmptraffic @gmpolice The "advantage" of this offence is that it is an assault therefore is not bound by the timescales of NIPs. So assault, plus the various driving offences implied, plenty for GMP to have a go with. Personally, I think these need to be treated as violence rather than driving.

@Femi_Sorry My basic theory of the Tories is that they have an undeclared policy of diverting tax take into private hands having divested all state assets. Where they deem tax take insufficient they can introduce payment for state services. Everything is about extracting the last penny.

@BlondeHistorian @GuideDogAva If I see someone apparently struggling in a wheelchair or partially sighted at a crossing, I try and say something like "Would you like some help?" which leaves control with the other person. Do you have a favourite way of being asked?

@DanNeidle Agreed. For the PM, it is bizarre that a senior minister has embarrassed the Government with deceit over an extended period of time, has something of a track record of carelessness as well, and yet the PM is unable to act decisively given the undisputed facts of the case.

@CyclingInASkirt Nobody seems to have yet mentioned that any careful and considerate driver would not be parking against the flow of traffic in the first place.
