Sunset is at 7:36pm. It’s 7:34pm. A player calls you to the table and asks if they can use the bathroom. They come back at 7:38pm, so you give them a four minute extension. As you’re about to leave the table, they tap their only land to play Moonrager’s Slash
Genius or grifter?
Did a chaos draft last night. Wild mix of mechanics, and some players hadn't played in a bit.
So, in a game, my opponent taps just R for Moonrager's Slash. "It's not night," I say.
They, looking VERY confused, turn around, and point outside.
Can't argue with that.

Smooth climb through Diamond with 4c Cycling. Lost 2 (maybe 3) matches total. Deck feels great, colors of mana are rarely an issue. Sideboard could use some work. I really only ever use Shredded Sails.

Well, round 1 of pio challenge had opponent DOBs, cast a Treasure Cruise I probably didn’t need to, and the pop up said my opponent won. Thought my opp had scooped and was confused, then realized I milled myself out.

So I played this last night in an RCQ. 3-1-1 in Swiss, lost in quarters. Deck was designed to beat Phoenix and Niv decks, and to hang with vampires.
After playing a lot of Phoenix, High Noon impressed me a lot in how it hamstrung the deck, so wanted to focus a deck around it.

Spent a day this past weekend being a feature match spotter for the first time since 2020. Definitely out of practice with it in general. But, every time day/night was in the game, I tunnel-visioned so much on tracking that I let other things slip.

Eh, Mutate is worse from a rules perspective, Day/Night is worse from a policy perspective. Having to backup a turn because someone plays a Brutal Cathar on the front side and exiles something even though it was night from the werewolf that died 10 turns ago is a "night"mare.

Yes, there is a step during casting spells where you get to activate mana abilities, while the spell is on the stack and after costs have been locked in.
It’s used in Affinity decks to make Emry or Thoughtcast cheaper by counting Lotus Petal then cracking it after locking costs

Thoughts about the deck:
Ruby Amethyst is the Rakdos Mid of the game. It is flexible, powerful, and has trades resources in a way that makes players want to play it. Even if a better deck is out there, I think players will flock to the archetype. 1/x
