This evening, halfway through my 35km bike ride, I found out that I have been offered my dream first job at NUH 🤩 I can’t quite believe it, what an incredible feeling this is ❤️
@TeamNUH
@UoNPhysio
#Lockdown
Respiratory Placement on Thoracic surgery/ITU finished! This is probably the happiest I have felt for the whole 3 years of this Physio degree, I think I have found what I want to do! So sad to leave such an amazing team and hospital, but I will never forget it 🤩
#PhysioStudent
Yesterday I worked on Covid ICU to help nursing staff for the day. It was an incredibly eye opening day not only seeing how young and how poorly (most unvaccinated) the patients were but also the burden on staff of wearing full PPE all day. The ICU staff truly are incredible 👌
1st year -> 3rd year
Physiotherapy degree is done! The most incredible years of my life and at some points, the hardest. Can’t believe I’ve made it. Surreal feeling that this is the end in lockdown but I can’t wait to celebrate with everyone one day!
It’s been unreal❤️
@UoNPhysio
Exactly 3 years and 4 days between these two photos, if I could go back to 20yo Grace and give her a pat on the back I would 🥺 today I accepted St George’s offer for medicine to start next September 🤝

I can’t quite believe it, I have somehow managed to graduate with a 1st class degree!? The past 9months have been some of the most challenging of my life but I have made it and will start my rotational Band 5 job at
@TeamNUH
in the coming weeks. Incredible 3 years 💛💚
@UoNPhysio
And as if this week couldn’t get any better… today I got my first Band 6 job!! On Respiratory Medicine, back at City Hospital 🤩😁
#RespIsBest
@nottmhospitals
12hour night shift completed ✅ kept super busy by the amazing Kaycie on the desk including 3xpaediatric respiratory jobs and 2x chest pains. Of course backed up by fabulous
@EMASNHSTrust
crews 💚
@trentcfr
What a month May was! Passed my exams, went to Cyprus, turned 25 and started a project back at my old stomping ground with the wonderful
@ICMdoc
!! 2 more weeks of the project to go and absolutely loving it, so good to be back 🫶🏼
I found out yesterday that I passed my first two medical school exams! They were formative so don’t count towards my final mark but it’s finally making me think I actually belong here… 🥹
#MedicalStudent
@StGeorgesUni
Week 1 of my first Band 5 Physiotherapy job done! Already learning so much on trauma and orthopaedics at QMC, still doesn’t feel real! 🥰
#Physiotherapist
#Trauma
(I think we knew who ate all the pies in my student ID card😳🐷)
Yesterday was my first ‘proper’ bleep to a poorly patient in
@NuhTheatres
recovery… I did my first solo NPA insertion and suction and managed to *actually* make the patient better!? It’s nice when you gain a little confidence in yourself, happy Physio 🥲😌
@TeamNUH
Amazing day shadowing a cardiothoracic anaesthetist in theatre yesterday. I saw 2x open heart surgeries for CABG’s plus a trauma call with cardiothoracic injuries. First time seeing a beating heart in the flesh, I feel so lucky to have had this experience and also very inspired!
6-Months on ICU and medicine done! Can’t believe how much I have learnt and how much more confident I am on ICU, very very sad to be moving on but so glad I’m staying in the Resp team for 6 more months! What an amazing rotation this has been 💙
@NUHTherapies
@NUHCriticalCare
Respiratory Medicine Rotation ✅ it’s been a crazy and amazing 6-months and it has been a dream being a part of South Team. Special thanks to
@physioGregNUH
who has been a pretty special Band7🤩💙

One of the strangest things about starting and finishing my first rotation in a pandemic... there will be some nurses, doctors, HCAs etc on my ward whose full face I will have never seen 😷 😨
#COVID19
What an awesome day at Market Square demonstrating the dangers of drink driving with
@nottspolice
,

and

Question for my fellow acute care/pre hospital/Physio/ICU colleagues:
Does anyone have any advice for how they deal with the emotional side of what they see at work? I have found myself taking home a lot of emotion and relating things I see at work to my family and friends.
Spent the past two evenings delivering
#CPR
demo sessions to various groups from the
#Rushcliffe
area. Working with
@nottsfire
giving back to the community and providing people with simple and potentially life saving skills 🙌🏼

First week on Surgery and Critical Care done ✅ very bumpy first week including my first in hospital cardiac arrest but all in all a great week- I love my new team and the caseload is really interesting. Lots of traches to see to get me over my fear of them 🤣
#RespiratoryPhysio
Week 3 of Medical School done! Feel incredibly privileged to be learning about such interesting topics with great teaching too. Imposter syndrome has been my challenge this week- I’m told it never goes away!?
#MedStudent
@StGeorgesUni
“When under pressure, we don’t tend to rise to the occasion, we fall to the level of our training” - really great quote from ‘Pre Hospital Care Podcast’ on Traumatic Cardiac Arrests. Very applicable to all areas of patient care. Touching on the importance of SIM training.
Today was a good day🤩 I’ve really loved working on ICU during this rotation, but have felt quite out of my depth at times. Today I truly felt confident in my clinical reasoning and treatment and had some good measurable outcomes too!
#HappyPhysio
#RespIsBest
This week has been hard. Feeling super overwhelmed by the ever great threat of COVID-19 to our teams, with and outbreak of covid on my ward and crazy staff shortages. TGIF never felt so relevant.

Trauma and Orthopaedics Rotation ✅ I will miss the team and specialty so much, it’s been an amazing 9-months and I can’t believe how far I have come since my first few weeks of graduating 🤯

Despite the lack of sleep, really good on-call last night. 4 call outs and utilised the entire respiratory physio tool box! From basic ACBT to using nasal airways, suction and many round using the
@NippyVentilator
clearway. Lots to reflect on and sleep to catch up on!
#respisbest
Finally home 3days later! Lateral ligament reconstruction, 5th metatarsal osteotomy and syndesmosis debridement done ✅ here’s to 6 weeks in a cast
#Recovery
(not sure what dimension I was in for the pic)
Today has been a hard day at work. Death and dying is just so sad, even when we try and make death as positive an experience as possible. And it really reiterates the importance of having a strong team around you, so thankful for my team always.
Listening to
@TheResusRoom
podcast on ventilation this afternoon and pleasantly surprised to hear a respiratory physio shoutout on positioning in v/q optimisation! Very interesting discussion on vent vs BVM during continuous CPR- have a listen!!
#respisbest
#respiratoryphysio
Isolation day 4: cross stitching and listening to
@TheResusRoom
podcasts, so far today I’ve listened to episodes on Supraglottic Airways, Sub Arachnoid Haemorrhages and Management of Status Epilepticus 👌👌 10/10 recommend listening to these guys.
#PHEM
Spending this coming week on Critical Care and Cardiothoracics to widen my knowledge and progress my respiratory competencies. I’m so excited. Also because I had a placement there as a student and it is what made me love Resp Physio 🤩
Really interesting lecture today on leadership- we were asked at the beginning of the lecture if any of us thought we were leaders and no hands went up. By the end of the lecture however, we started to see how we really all are leaders in our own ways! Thankyou
@exerciseworks
👏🏻
The happiness and disbelieve made me forget to update the Twitter family!! I passed my exams so onto the next year of Medicine in August! I’m excited and so proud of myself 🥹

Bittersweet news hearing about the new bursary Physio students are set to receive. Not sure how we, the 2017 cohort, have managed to be the first non NHS funded Physiotherapy cohort and also be the first year to dodge this new funding... making us the only cohort with no funding?
First GP placement morning yesterday! Really useful session interviewing a patient about asthma and how it can affect day to day life. Also relearning Resp history taking and examination 🩺 as per…
#respisbest
;)
So great to pass on experience to the
@UoNPhysio
3rd Years on interviews, profiles, and newly qualified life! Main advice I can give you is believe in yourself and be yourself, you’ve come so far and know more than you think!
#StudentsAreLegends
Great shift this afternoon/evening on the CFR car. Lots of interesting jobs and first time needing
@nottspolice
to keep me safe on scene- their response was quick and effective, very thankful 🙌🏼
A heads up for anyone who (shockingly) still does this. If someone has visible scars on any part of their body, don’t ask them (in front of multiple people especially) “what are they then”. Be nice and don’t ruin someone’s day🙂
Four
@UoNPhysio
students and I will be representing the University this weekend at BUCS head in Newcastle- keep your fingers crossed for us!🤞🏻
#PhysiosThatRow
Congratulations to these two on graduating from Physiotherapy - I feel so privileged to have spent this day with you. So incredibly proud of all you do 👩🏼🎓👩🏻🎓

In honour of 2-months of sobriety for me, here’s a little something I drew a few months ago! I used to draw funky ways of remembering conditions I saw at work 😌
Day 2 on Major Trauma and I’m feeling super overwhelmed. There’s no point filtering my tweets to just the positives because that’s unrepresentative- I’m finding this hard. I just hope as time goes on I feel more deserving of being there 🤞🏼
#PhysioStudent
Just finished my late shift, got to observe an emergency intubation on one of the patients I got bleeped to!! (I didn’t break them I swear) and now out of office on for 7 days! Off to Wales for some annual leave 👌🤩
Started my 2nd placement today, general medicine with gastro, geriatrics and endocrinology. Really welcoming team so far which is great! Although a consultant started to explain to me what ‘the role of physio’ is… apparently they are ‘for the legs’ 😆
A cheesy grin and a big thumbs up for my first shadow visit (complex community care), memorable and interesting experience with lots of lessons learned 🧠👌🏻

@UoNPhysio
First time doing an antenatal examination this morning on GP placement!! I felt the position of the 36week baby and even got the heart beat on Doppler! I love my course so much 🥰
#MedStudent
@StGeorgesUni
First day on ICU and Medicine done! Very different genre of patients from what I have gotten used to but so much to learn! My new team are lovely too which is a bonus ⭐️ treated a pt with an ICP bolt for the first time 🤯 heres to the next 6months!
@TeamNUH
@NUHTherapies
It’s
#RestartAHeartDay
. Get yourself familiar with your local defibrillators, good quality CPR and early defibrillation saves lives. It is everyone’s responsibility to know the basic information ❤️
Today I put in my first NPA and did my first NPA suction, with the very man that taught me how to do it at university
@UoNPhysio
!! Thanks
@physioGregNUH
you’re a legend 🤩
On Thursday I had to put my darling cat to sleep as he was hit by a car and broke his back. I had him since I was 10, we grew up together and was the only thing that got me through some hard time. 2 weeks ago my hamster died as well, today I painted them both a little stone ❤️
Combining my day job with CFR training last week! Really enjoyed presenting this to the
@trentcfr
team, looking more in depth at conditions we might come across on shift using knowledge from working as a Resp Physio 🙌🏼
#MDT
Day 3 (is that it!!??) of my 14 day pre-op isolation. Forgot how much I hate not being able to get out and enjoy the world! Also feeling guilty for not being at work- but finding time to get some solid GAMSAT studies in 🩺
#everycloud
Can confidently say, 2019 has been one of the worst years in my life so far. But in darkness has come so much light from the people in my life. Every cloud really does have its silver lining and I’m so hopeful for this next coming year 🤞🏼

Our house has been broken into this evening and the perpetrator has gone upstairs and taken my brothers car keys and stolen his car.

Please keep an eye out in the Nottingham area 👌🏼
@nottspolice
Really enjoying this week, I’ve been on surgical HDU seeing lots of ICU step downs. Much more rehab for neuro/major trauma patients and been able to get more involved with trache weans. Plus good respiratory treatments. My brain (and muscles😆) have been well worked!
#RespPhysio
Fabulous training session with these superstars last week! Recapping BLS with some funky scenarios thrown in there. So grateful to be a part of this wonderful group
@trentcfr
@EMASNHSTrust
Today has been a special day. I went back to my school for the first time in 6 years and saw the wonderful
@JulieKellerNGHS
🤩 I owe so much of who I am today today to her and NGHS staff. Feeling very proud to be a past student, especially after today 💙
A week has gone by since my grandma passed away. Having worked with patients approaching the end of their life, nothing can really prepare you for when it’s your own family. Forever thankful for the happy memories ❤️
I called my GP surgery this morning to book an appointment and I was pleasantly surprised to be welcomed by an automated message along the lines of “any MSK problems, book in to see our Primary Contact Physiotherapist” !!! This is new 🤩
#TimesAreChanging
#Physiotherapy
Nottingham 10k done! Shout out to
@UoNPhysio
@UoNSportRehab
for the massage tent, don’t think my L calf will be functional for a while after the run😰 and so good to see a familiar face
@Sineadlodge1
💚💛
Absolutely loved the past 5 weeks on my surgical placement. 3 weeks on renal transplant and 2 on colorectal. I have done my first set of bloods and catheter and even assisted in some colorectal surgery! I love surgery 🤩 Onto another PBL block now 🩺🩻💉
#medicalstudent
Today was my first day back being clinical since my op! I’d forgotten how much I love treating patients, I was tearing up listening to an elderly man tell me about how much he loves gardening... maybe this time off has made me a bit soft 😋
