Got the news I've been waiting for today. I'm Cancer free. The surgery has worked and I won't need further treatment, just a five year programme of checks and tests. The surgeon hopes to reverse my stoma by August. Happy days!

This is tough to do but I'm going to go for it. Two weeks ago I was diagnosed with bowel cancer. Now all my tests have been completed it appears that the cancer hasn't spread. I'll still need surgery and follow-up treatment but it looks like a fight I can win.

When I took early retirement from teaching last year I honestly wanted to work with the elderly (75+) but I soon realised that most of them are really horrible, especially towards young people. I will NEVER be like them.

2 at reasonable times of the day; and
3 usually only available one way.

John, I've been a teacher for 30 years, most of them enjoyable. I too work a 60 hour week, but this year is my last. I'm taking early retirement to escape a job I no longer love. For the last 13 years, this government has run down teachers at every possible opportunity.

I've just submitted the manuscript and accompanying photographs for Land of the Giants. It's been a stressful week getting it all together but I've got it in a day ahead of deadline. Juggling work and writing isn't easy but it was worth it to meet and speak to everyone I did.
