Just over 18 months ago I started writing down some thoughts and memories of supporting Spurs in the 90s. I wasn’t sure it would get beyond the first page….here is my 3rd greatest creation with my first two creations 💙
Thanks so much to all who have been part of the journey 💪

9 weeks until my book is out! Previewing 91-92 - 'Managing the Eleven' - Sugar x El Tel were now in charge but
@damejuliewelch
always felt the 'Dream Ticket' was doomed. A poor season in midtable but Lineker kept scoring, a bomb scare, long shorts, and we were back in Europe!
OTD in 1991....incredible rollercoaster of a day not least for me as a 10-year old at Wembley.
Arguably we've never had it so good since?

As discussed in my book this was one of just 2 Lineker goals scored for Spurs from outside the penalty area - the other being the winner at Old Trafford.
I think this one is best - the first touch is Bergkamp - I mean Sheringham-esque!

The goal (and commentary) that gave me a book title!
It’s that precise microsecond where Gazza, every player and all those goons behind the goal realise what’s happened!
Another great book coming out from
@rob_fletcher_
which I'm looking forward to having enjoyed
#1992
so much. As covered in
#IsGascoigneGoingToHaveaCrack
the 94/95 season was a spectacular one for Spurs - possibly the most dramatic of the decade and for many the most enjoyable.
So from here on in the focus is the story of the 1994/95. And yeah, it is almost the 30th anniversary of the start of that season.
The book will be released by
@PitchPublishing
and written by me
@rob_fletcher_
so make sure you follow both of those accounts too.
The goal and iconic commentary that inspired a book about Spurs in the 90s! This was the biggest moment of 'magic' yet the decade also contained its shares of mayhem and mediocrity too.

Our most decorated player of the 90s and also the only player to have appeared in a 1st team game for Spurs in every calendar year of the 90s!
Fondly remembered in my book about Spurs in the 90s -
Like many others I learned about the Klinsmann signing through Teletext! It came 2 days after we’d signed Dumitrescu for a then club record fee and felt very exotic.
Sutton going for £5m was mind blowing!
It’s the time of the year when the transfer rumours start and signings are made.
There were no transfer windows to deal with in 1994/95, only a late deadline in March.
Let’s dive in a see the main movers for 1994/95 -🧵
the greatest non-Spurs goal of the 90s!
Nayim was already a cult hero for his mercurial talent - who could forget the ⚽️⚽️⚽️ at Man City.
Nayim is one of 109 players who appeared for Spurs in the 90s and all are referenced in my new book available here

Former Tottenham player Nayim scored one of the most famous goals of all time as Real Zaragoza beat Arsenal 2-1 in the European Cup Winners Cup Final

I see so many fans citing a so-called conspiracy against them. In 1994 ,when I was 13, I felt the FA had an agenda against Spurs after our points deduction FA Cup ban and wrote this letter to them 🫣

Delighted to have been asked by

@stusfootyflash
Mike Hooper really was the most back-up goalkeeper of all back-up goalkeepers. In a day where there weren't sub keepers (though maybe there were for uefa games?) felt like the sort of bloke who had a day job always just waiting for the off-chance call that Grobelaar was injured.
What was your favourite Spurs 90s kit?
This from my hand drawing (didn't quite get the proportions right on the Green Holsten GK shirt lower arms or the correct shade of purple for the PONY away kits!)
I'm sure I'd have got this regardless of the cover but having Erik Thorstvedt in full flight across the front made this a 'must have' for the Mega Drive for me! Strange that the image must have been at least 3 years out of date (that's the hummel kit so 90/91 absolute latest!)
One of my best memories of the 90s! Is Ronny the biggest cult hero of the decade with that hat-trick...i reckon only Nayim runs him close?! For more 90s nostalgia please have a look at my book out in April -
@stusfootyflash
@stusfootyflash
amazing period but he seemed to revery back to his natural level at Blackburn sadly. Great story nonetheless but I equally enjoyed the footage of the Stamford Bridge corner flag car park and Dmitri Kharine's trackie bottoms!

apologies for going off topic here but have we ever seen a bigger discrepancy in depth of nets from World Cups from 1990 - 1994?? I love that you can instantly recognise a tournament by style of nets in the 90s. Every one since 2002 has looked the same 😔
Thanks for posting

and delighted that you’re selling. I hope Is Gascoigne Going To Have a Crack? will appeal to all football fans keen to learn about the 90s.
That first weekend of 🌞where you realise there's no Spurs game for a few months! 🥱
In the 90s the off-seasons were often as dramatic as the actual football.
91 Sugar buy-out
93 Sugar/Venables fall-out
94 FA punishment
Read about it here -
I'd love to know when the decision was made which players to include...Fox didn't join until October. We had a really small squad that season - Dumitrescu (5 league apps), Erik the Viking (0) and Gerry McMahon (14) purely making up the numbers to fill a page!

He was a real menace that season alone - 2 goals in this game plus a successful penalty in the shoot out back at WHL and then he scored another long range belter in the league game!
@DEAD_since_92
McDonald played in the 3-1 win at Highbury so should be well remembered! Coll shared a staring XI with Alan Pardew in the Intertoto Cup campaign!
Yes this actually happened (spoiler alert - points and FA Cup ban successfully overturned). Here is a draft letter that I wrote to the FA complaining. I did get a response in fairness...
#OnThisDay
in 1994, The FA fined Tottenham Hotspur £600,000 for Financial irregularities. Whilst also giving them a 12 point deduction in the league and banning them from the FA Cup.

I'd be delighted to.
I was actually mascot for the Portsmouth FA Cup game (not a very lucky one 🫣) on my 10th birthday! Dad was often 4th official for Conference games so used to sit right behind dugouts and loiter around PA 'shed' to find out other latest scores.
@80s90sfootball

and not forgetting Rory Allen...the man who had the haircut that epitomised the mid-90s! Scored on his full debut v Newcastle in Sept '96 and legend has it quit as a professional (while at Portsmouth) to be able to watch England in Australia for the 2002/3 Ashes!

loved this period so much - Teddy scored 10 in 6 games and we won 6 on the spin. The link up with Barmby and
@DarrenAnderton
was brilliant. We've had some great double acts over the years but as a trio these are the best I have seen.
We all had such high hopes for him especially having seen him captain England U20 in 1993. Started so well with that goal at home to Everton but just couldn't sustain that level. Very good career in football league.
@1MickyHazard
Love that picture
@1MickyHazard
- I'm too young to remember you the first time around but you were great when you came back. That pirouette that started the move for Anderton's goal at Highbury and the goal at West Ham 👏- all fondly remembered in my book!
@80s90sfootball
@80s90sfootball
great footage - Gazza was talismanic in that cup run especially against the backdrop of the financial black hole the club was fast falling into. I've covered that period in my book
#IsGascoigneGoingToHaveaCrack
due out in April that covers Spurs throughout the 90s
@HotspurMemories
Great match this
@HotspurMemories
- it was the start of Teddy's purple patch where he went on to score 10 in 6 games and got into the England squad. That triumvirate of Sheringham, Anderton and Barmby really came into their own.
