Bronwyn nails the issue. Rather than please the fans by making a miniature of one of the many female characters in the game, they decided to virtue signal by gender swapping a character that the original artist has stated is male.

I grew up in Louisiana. You would see a few but it was more an expression of rebellious spirit or an embrace of history than anything else. The town I lived in was predominantly black and everyone was completely cool with each other.

Not all female; the dwarf is Elkhorn and the fighter is Strongheart with the visor of his helm down. Mercion and Molliver are female as well as the unknown elf.

By old school stat requirements, paladins are few and far between. Can’t exactly flood the streets with them and they are usually tasked with a greater mission than handling street crime.

The miniature on its own is a fine sculpt. However, it is supposed to be a highly collectible representation of an iconic art piece celebrating D&D’s 50th anniversary. By retconning the fighter to be a woman they lessened the value of their miniature.

5E is not a bad rule system but it is bland, imho. I definitely will play it but all the classes seem so much alike that I tend to get bored. I guess I’m stuck in the 80’s when it comes to D&D.

IMHO, D&D died when 4E came out. Since then, WOTC has been making Frankensteinish efforts to keep the corpse animated. I have nearly 50 years of material to play the game I love; WOTC won’t make any money off of me.

It was the closest thing to a real LOTR movie in its day. Watching it along with the Rankin-Bass The Hobbit and The Return of the King was a sort of Cliff Notes experience of Tolkien’s epic.
