This was a fun newsletter to write- I had binders full of SI for Kids cards growing up- none kept in good condition!
I did pick up a BGS 6 2000 Venus & Serena Williams SI for Kids card on eBay last week... but for much less than $117K!

BIG RESULT! Michael Jordan's BMW 850i from 1991 just sold at auction for $108,723. (Nice $23 in there...).
Hard to find direct comps, but based on the features of the car and mileage, it looks like the MJ-impact more than doubled the value of the car.

I think we’ll be pretty different and there’s plenty of room for both. Our focus is on the community- giving collectors (not just sports collectors) a new spot to connect. DR is building a journalism co. If we both do our jobs well, they should be complementary vs competitive.

It was fun digging in on this- dino fossil hunting & the murky world behind selling them to collectors would make an amazing TV show.
I can't fit a T. Rex in my house, but a Compsognathus, the size of a chicken, would go work in my office.
Last month a Tyrannosaurus Rex Skull listed by Sotheby's sold for only $6M, less than half of the pre-auction estimate, but it still sold for SIX million dollars. NGL I wish I had one in my office. 🦖 More from my guy

Definitely easier! But we want to build tools for collectors that can't be integrated into X/IG, connect people in a deeper way (given you are there JUST for collecting vs. everything else), and do it in a way that will hopefully feel less toxic and more fun.

Right now it’s primarily a social network w/ articles, a card database (CardHedge) and a place where you can display items from your collection. Like if X/Reddit/Discord was built w/ the hobby in mind. But so many more features to come.
