The Handbook of Affective Polarization is just out in a pre-print version. I think it will be an extremely valuable resource for scholars working on the concept. I was glad to contribute a chapter on how talking to people from the other party reduces partisan hostility.

@PhMai @alonzoizner @poqjournal They appear to be more extreme than their constituents. As we discuss in the paper, this might be because (a) they wrongly estimate public opinion or (b) they do know what the public wants but still choose extremity, for example, to get media attention.
