In 20 commercial tomato farms that Ivisited in Kimana within a radius of 500 metres, all were using HHPs.
That article should be coming up soon on
@routetofood
.
But the reality of the matter is every evening we indulge in toxic carcinogenic dinners.
Okay for every 15 liters hand pump. Use 1 liter of Rabbit urine, 2 handful of dry crashed chilli, about 3 handful of neem tree leaves crushed.
You can also add 3 spoons of tobacco.
All mixed in 14 liters of water and left overnight.
Sprayed twice in intervals of 10 days.
The day you see cows. Please do remember that i have grown and stored fodder for one and a half years to date.
Don't rush to put the horse before the cart.
Success to be reaped is planned, painful and requires persistent.
Officially honey flow season at Elerai village starting last night🍯🍯.
We will harvest 🍯🍯 continuously for the next one month.
We will also make wax later and do scented candles, soaps etc .
We will not harvest again until 2025 as it dries past September.

Here we go.Week 5 top of the table🐐
Animal feeds growing. (Maize silage, sugar graze & nutrifeed)🌾🌽🐄🐐🐑
On with the journey to be
#livestockfeed
secure year round for 10 dairy cows and 100 sheep lot.
We plant brachiaria splits today. Lucerne germinating pretty well.🌿
Now finished fencing for what will be a place for people to come learn how to grow organic foods and adapt to increasing drought as a result of
#climatechange
.
It can be done. Keep it here
Further demonstration that my rabbit solution works, here is a part that I left without spraying the rabbit urine for demonstration and comparison purposes.
Same crop, almost completely destroyed where urine solution was not applied.

Many have always wondered to what extended
#food
🍲🍲 can be grown organically at a commercial level.
Here in Kajiado piloting a success story of zero artificial fertilizers & pesticides with 2,100 🍎🍎
#trees
now in flower & fruit, 200 🥑🥑,
#vegetables
🥦🥕 and 🌽🌽.
This is the tragedy in Kajiado County especially Kajiado South.
Clear, use excessive fertilizer to maximize productivity, get the soil to acidic to grow anything, 4 years clear another 60 acres, do the same.
The unfortunate part is most of this lands left barren are leased
"We are at a time where farmers are producing by moving to a new piece of land. Once a portion is degraded, it is abandoned and farmers move to a new area. For how long can we do this?"
@warui_harun
Livestock economy based communities can beat the perennial drought cycle with proper forage growing planning.
By December, we should have enough feeds for 10 dairy cows and 100 goats to last one year .
Farm size, six acres.
Keep it here as the journey unroll.
🐐🐄🌽🌿🌾
How often do you check your hives?
We have begun moving across the county working with farmers on some best
#beekeeping
practices. We hope to increase the number of occupied hives during the coming swarm season.
Are you in
#Kajiado
and wish to have your farm visited? Reach out.
Data collection of

Very few thinga beat this morning view from Elerai village.
And I got 42 acres in the wild overlooking all this.
@MaureenInKwenia
, kwenia is giving me inspirations on things I could do there.
Week 6🌾🌿🐄🐑🌦️
Days now to harvest nutrifeed and sugar graze when the plants have all nutrients stored. 🌾🌿🐄🐑.
Remember the two are multi cuts.
How we wish we could mechanize the harvesting and ensiling. 🙏

With drought having driven our herds communities almost nuts, growing feeds will be the way to go to combat the effects of climate change.
I am preparing our family six acre farm as a model for this.
To all those who supported this
#bee
🐝🐝 project with the bush hives, you have no idea how this ladies are great full.
They are finalising to buy a plot of land where they will put a 40 feet container to be their honey 🍯 🍯 processing & sale point.
You made this one possible.
A little Sunday walk in the fodder🌾🌾🐄🐄 and orchards🍎🍎🍎 block enjoying the story of generation wealth creation roll out nicely.
We will look for that generation 👨👩👧👦 baadae.

Progress on the animal feeds project at the farm. (yellow maize Panner, nutrifieed forage millet, Avanta sugar graze)
We continue to get ready before bringing in livestock around Dec.
Planning on feeds, better utilization of land only sure bet to livestock rearing communities.
Safari ya kesho hupangwa leo.
On with growing animal feeds (sugar graze millet here).
#Climatechange
has forced us to rethink how we plan for livestock feeding, manage land and maximize space.
By December, should have enough feeds for 10 cattle lasting them 1 year six months.
Who said that organically grown apples 🍎🍎🍎 can't grow in arid
#Kenya
.
A year later, 2,100 apple 🍎🍎🍎 trees loading at Elerai Village.
They will not believe it. Safe food is possible at commercial level.
I love to capture 🐝🐝🐝 swarms on 🌲🌳🌴 before moving them into apiaries.
It's natural for our bees 🍯🍯🐝🐝 to swarm on trees🌳🌳. I think our forefathers understand as much.
Always worked for me. 🌻🌼🌸🐝
We about to start harvesting our feeds. S
Storage is the next critical stage.
Work kicked off to build our concrete bunker silo today capable of holding 100 tons of feeds at one go.
🌾🌿🐄🐑🐐
More of the traditional log hives as we continue to visit farms.

Not long, this group of farmers were buying vegetables infested with pesticides for their household use.
3 months letter after engagement with

My guys in loitoktok will enter a mini van public vehicle full with strangers and say 'Habari Zenu.'
The level of socialism borrowed from Tz is on another level.
Back in the days you would enter someone shamba, harvest a few tomatoes and go cook without question.

The log hive; a symbol of Africa's

too.
With few improvements, the hive can achieve both increased production and colony sustainability.
We are keen not to lose indegenous knowledge.
Manure getting into the farm now. Tomorrow we plant feeds (sugar graze) and yellow maize
Next week Lucerne and brachiaria grass.
Next week but one fruits

Elerai village is sweet with honey this season. 🍯🍯🐝🐝🐝🌼🎊
First bucket of first honey🍯🍯🐝🐝 sieving process is now settling.
Hope we can hit 100🍯🍯 buckets this season.
Approximately 20 kgs per bucket.
Saving the scum per apiary site location for future analysis.

Shifting to growing animal feeds is good for the
#environment
in ASAL.
Moving away from overgrazing in environments that are fragile and focusing on crop zoned area for animal feeds.
This allows the environment to self regenerate and reduces forage competition with other life.
Beekeeping does not aid the indolent!
Regular hive inspection is critical to becoming a successful
#beekeeper
and achieving healthy colonies.
Get in touch for more on beekeeping.
Planted trees yesterday as part of the nation wide program to plant about 15 billion trees over the next ten years

Growing cattle feeds is a lot more than feeding cattle.
It means
#children
can concentrate with school rather than move from one place to another in search of pasture.
It means stronger families.
It means better utilization of land for

including

That, I am writing about. Why we need a coordinated effort to control some elements in East Africa.
Otherwise what's the point of banning a substance in Loitoktok if I can find one across the border in Tarakea Tz.

Fanya hivi. Tip it (like kata huko juu) it will branch. Am always doing that. Lots of branches now. Should have started chini. You still could cut it slightly above the graft point.
I visited this farm before I started growing my feeds late last year & early Jan.
Very inspiring, supportive & welcoming.
Also will be getting some breeds later next year from this farm.
Indeed, this is the only truth, the only way, the only future to livestock feed security
