@RobynVinter I knew this guy online for years. His avatar was of Lord Farquaad. In real life, he's a huge 6'4 bear of a man (and he's not white, either). Even though I know what he looks like, and have for 16 years, in my head he's still Farquaad.

@ravenscimaven How on earth did you get to adulthood without knowing that? I'm fairly naïve and even I knew that one 🤣.

@jasebyjason You also missed out the other life admin which you have to do alone if you don't have a partner:.Cleaning, washing, food shopping, tidying. And then stuff like GP appointments. Life is still built for couples with one staying at home and running the house, it feels like.

My very first quilt cover. Yes, I chose it. And I actually still kinda love it. Please note, someone else maintains the bookcase and I will be putting it to rights shortly 🤣. #DuvetKnowItsChristmas

@d_la_reina This is what I hate about certain senior management in my sector who decide outreach / try advertise services: they won't use the platforms the people they're targeting actually use 🤦🏻♀️.If you want them to listen to you, that's how you get their attention.

@JVanMaren My sister starved herself through puberty because she was in the wrong body. She is so much happier now she's *out* as a woman. I am glad she didn't kill herself because people tried to deny her existence.

@charlottor When I moved into the last place I lived at, the lawn was overrun by brambles. It stressed me out, so I got rid of them with much scratching to my body and at much effort. Landlady put the rent up.

How to create another 3 month lockdown in 2 easy steps:.1. Protest mask-less in an omicron hotspot.2. Go back home and wander about mask-less. Geniuses 🤦. #londonprotest.

All the library staff are just going: nope. We put the foot down on slides, we put our collective foot down on late late nights. Big nope.
I saw an idea recently that I thought was lovely…public libraries that are open late every night so ppl can socialize, as an alternative to bars or sitting alone at home. Would be especially perfect for introverts to socialize comfortably and for older people who are lonely.

@StckedLibrarian My last day at public library X, a drunk man came into the children's section and started beating up a little kid. Security did nothing. Wasn't in their remit. A member of the public tackled the guy and sat on him with another member of the public until the police came.

@AlexArrelia @Mr_Axel_Gear Yeah. Libraries. Garth Nix, for example, really loves libraries and waxes lyrical about how they could get him anything he asked for as a kid, so he read.

@AutisticCallum_ A date at someone's house means they expect sex. Giving out your number is an invitation for dick pics. Even if there has been zero physical contact leading up to goodbye, some men will still lunge and kiss you. If they kiss you, they expect sex. Lessons I learnt ^^.

@judeinlondon There was so much discrimination and xenophobia around Eastern Europeans in the UK in the early 2000s. It was so nasty. The Job Centre told me to Anglicise my surname on applications and to specify that I spoke English and was a UK national for CV-based applications.

@clare_bwell Wow. This crosses a line. I would feel violated. It takes effort to follow someone on social media. I had a therapist whom I once bumped into on the bus on my way to therapy. He told me that he wouldn't sit with me on the ride and converse because it wasn't ethical.

@RevyCrimson @KeechMft The non-autistic male can commonly be found on dating apps. To try and attract the attention of a female, he proudly takes and sends a photograph of his most prized possession, his penis. This has a 99.99% failure rate, but nevertheless he is persistent 😛.

@comradevenustas Yeah. Cis, but with an athletic figure. I put on muscle quite easily, also 15 months of crutches has given me rather muscular arms. Add my huge nose to that, and is it any wonder I hate my body and face with attitudes like that? TERF logic undoes years of therapy and hard work.

@zbris6 @petervanderhey6 @_HelenDale I am thinking that it's jealousy: someone so young has a platform and a voice and the nous to *do* something. How many 16 year old can do that?.And if their views are more respected than certain adults', well, it's perfectly mature and natural to throw a tantrum, isn't it?.

@souljagoytellem @gastrogeorge We had a class on it in nursery: say no to strangers. "Is that a stranger?" I asked my mum, pointing at a man playing with his car. "Yes". I promptly ran up to him and yelled "NO'" at the top of my voice. 🤦🏻♀️.

@gemlizard @marthasa1 @CaraLisette @RealNickBurke Well, women know what they've got there. Pity any woman who goes to bed with him. No dear, that's my ear. Well actually, the ear, as an erogenous zone, is actually part of the vagina extension, actually.

@laurenancona In some ways, it reminds me of the start of psychiatrist letters, or consultant letters that get sent to your GP and you get a copy. "Well-dressed", "dishevelled", "pleasant", "aggressive". However, there's probably enough to identify the patient there if you knew them.

@oldenoughtosay I wish someone had chewed out the GP who sent me to therapy for health anxiety after I went 5 times with no change in his analysis then ended up on crutches for 15 months. (Getting some more MRIs on Sunday.).But the practice manager always gave me the time of day after that.

@CorbynistaTeen And we all found out by Twitter, too. It wasn't Cummings' great escape that made me think "fuck it", it was their Islamophobic handling of "whack-a-mole" Northern lockdowns. Truly have I never felt so much contempt for a government in my lifetime.

@FranArtHistory Headphones and / or somewhere where you can control bits of the environment (e.g., open windows, turn lights on or off, shut the door. Some people ask for silent clocks. I like clock ticking though. It's soothing to me.

@salihughes I'm a librarian. We weed books from collections all the time. It's perfectly fine to donate books, but if they're mouldy or a shitty paperback that's dropping to pieces, it's OK to bin!.It's not the foreskin of Christ.

@AnnaSels @nicolacoughlan Same. Cis men, all the time. The only time I have been sexually assaulted has been by cis men. I have a trans sister and a couple of non-binary and trans friends. I am not scared of them. I am, however, scared for them with all the nastiness that's been going on.

@WilfulMoon @girlziplocked There's also: how do you have time to have a social life / network when you're working so that you can pay your rent and food? Maintenance loans *just* covered rent in the second-cheapest halls when I was at uni. I imagine it's far worse now. You miss chances to know these folk.

@CarlyRaeSummers @Simon_P_Hannah @SLC_Repayment @SF_England I gave up checking mine a couple of years ago. Graduated in 2009, and last time I checked it was still £25k. I definitely wish they had talked to us about apprenticeships instead of the options being uni or retail.

@ChefConsultant This is what I'm afraid of. I'm British, but have a Ukrainian surname, a name which has NEVER been spelt correctly on any NHS document. Sometimes the same document can have 3 different versions of my name. Best get my NHS number tattooed on me in case of an accident.
