I hate Twitter... But scientists and journalists like it. And removing these new annoying pop-ups on every single tweet from them got to be too much...

@tekov_yahoser @shoredays @johnhawkinsrwn @RBReich Not after inflation. It could be a decent point if the costs of things the government had to buy in 2020 was the same as in 2016, but they were not.

@LeePrevost @RBReich Only if you care about the deficit. If not, cutting revenues costs nothing.

@giulio_mattioli It's not clear what loophole he'd close if anything. Seems to indicate an opposition to chain migration, or for a Palestinian to use a Ukrainian program, but that doesn't necessarily mean all war refugees would be excluded.

@ArmandDoma We could spend a small sum of money for the junta to fall, instead, so there wouldn't need to be refugees for decades. It is a cowardly way to limit the damage of doing nothing.

@lee_mccaleb @AutismCapital You're right that he has no interest in $50. But he may have lots of interest in billions of dollars. If he was satisfied with just being a billionaire, he would have retired when he was 400x poorer than today. Do Russian oligarchs tell Putin "no, please, we have enough money"?

@Kaching100 @ferald_gord Whatever the Pope says on matters of religion and morality is Catholic theology. He didn't say what his favorite color was.

@inversewd @Lightless_Day @brett0769 @ferald_gord Nothing in the Bible explains the Trinity. Else there wouldn't have been hundreds of years of disagreement about it in the early churches. But if you find the exact verse Jesus says "I, my dad, and the Holy Spirit are the same and only God" then feel free.

@gnievchenko @Mouse_McCoy @DJSnM No one is willing to pay 2-4x more for fuel, especially when it's a business where fuel is 30% of their costs. Worthy of research to see if can make it cheaper. Not near ready for aircraft to switch to it.

@yoshiefuruhashi @besttrousers It's a protected market. We wouldn't put Chinese-made hardware in the F-35 even if they were cheaper or better.

@helring @Lib_Development @questionableway I feel they don't understand organ transplantees are immunosuppressed for life so their bodies don't reject their organs. Handfuls of pills everyday. Not only do they need vaccinations, they need more than other people do, and doctors must have trust they'll take all their meds.

@Lib_Development @questionableway Getting an infection during surgery, or during the lifelong immunosuppression after it, without any defense against it, reduces viability by quite a lot. You agree partially about risk. So I think you should leave the risk estimates to the doctors.

@PippengerHarlo @LaVeterinarian @NathanJRobinson There were multiple UNSC resolutions to establish fighting forces and intervene in Yugoslavia during the Bosnian genocide and again to intervene years later for Kosovo And it's very difficult to get anything passed with Russia & China. It was enough authority not given elsewhere

@OliverSegal2 @mattyglesias While she's a part of the Science of Identity Foundation cult, and it is Hindu-adjacent, it's led by a white guy named Chris and isn't at all connected to the Hindutva movement.

@Aqloe5 @johnholowach @StatisticUrban Getting used to something takes time. The time between the midterm elections and millions suddenly having their benefits cut or eliminated is at most 13 months.

@astmakos @StatisticUrban It's good to know either North Carolina or Georgia can do it. Both have similar demographics and issues. Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Wisconsin may continue to be most important, tho.

@questionableway @Heatherk1130 Rulings in Commonwealth v. Twitchell, Lundman v. McKown, State v Neumann, and others make refusal of necessary treatment—even for religious convictions—illegal in many cases. Without a religious reason, this would definitely not be allowed if the vaccine was normally necessary.

@Lib_Development @questionableway Do you agree chain-smokers should not get lung transplants before nonsmokers? If you agree on that, then the argument is over what risk profile you find acceptable, and organ donor committees are experts at evaluating that risk profile, which does not include any factor you said

@CJGuerrero21 @johnholowach @USA_Polling Whatever generation is currently a teenager will get the most flack. It was the same for Gen Y. And Gen X. And Boomers. And if the Greatest Generation weren't sacrificing themselves to save the world from Hitler, the Silents would've probably criticized them more, too.

@DreamsOfControl @BenjaminCrew1 I was almost interested in reading that until the author told me they think dishes left in mud for months to years do not require washing.
