It is fierce competition for the dumbest thing Trump has said but maybe the ones that are most personally galling to me are when he weighs in on conservation issues.
#RakeTheForest
Trump: "You gotta take care of the floors. You know the floors of the forest, very important... I was with the President of Finland... he called it a forest nation and they spent a lot of time on raking and cleaning and doing things and they don't have any problem."
@misslaurynmoses
To Gen Z, depicting racism is DOING racism. I literally don’t know how we are going to get anywhere as a society now. We certainly won’t be getting less racist like this.
@Birdsbirdbird
@ashleyscastro
What if I told you that the people whose jobs are merely “interesting” generate all the baseline knowledge used to do things like build buildings and computers, manage ecosystems for all of us, and create vaccines and medicines, but never get paid for their ideas and inventions?
@malinconia_71
One of the best little details in the movie is when they have to change, and Jessica looks at Paul and realizes she has to look away from him when he’s naked because he’s not her little boy anymore, he’s a man now. Once again thank god Villeneuve hates dialogue.
@anonynaut
This is a good point but the obvious retort is that the reason men could pick up and leave was…the patriarchy. So the tradition can still justly be called patriarchal.
California is a god-forsaken hellhole. California will not enter the Kingdom of Heaven. It is such a hilariously mistaken notion that California is progressive or leftist; what it is is simply Democratic, in the machine sense. Barbara Lee deserved better from my home state.
@_CLancellotti
@MattPolProf
I think this is a common misconception people have. Let’s not belittle anyone for just learning this. Once you understand the centrality of anti-communism to Nazism you begin to understand a lot more about how the world actually works and who is allied with who.
@edzitron
Is this group run by scammers? All these people saying to DM them to fix it…they are absolutely gonna ask these people for passwords so they can “fix it” right?
@IwriteOK
I mean they very obviously did *not* have to go through the car windows to attach their hoses, but it’s a cool demonstration of why you shouldn’t park in front of fire hydrants and it’s illegal so yeah, they’re lucky they didn’t get towed.
@DanDavisWrites
I mean, maybe, they might also just be the descendants of people who continued to live a tribal existence while their neighbors built civilizations.
@PunishedGramsci
Chapo has always been 100% pro-trans. I have never heard anything but support from them. And if you haven’t noticed the trans guests that’s on you. It is honestly probably like their most consistent issue.
@GoodPoliticGuy
Actually this is relevant to terrorism in the reverse: this causes terrorism. This is the intentional de-development and immiseration of Palestine, pure unadulterated colonialism that breeds resentment and terrorism.
@poppy_haze
The entire construction of SpaceX’s ridiculous facilities in the middle of a national wildlife refuge along a pristine stretch of beach is a sign of how “Texas doesn’t care”
@shreyabasu003
This is much preferable to the revisionist ones where people say they are sorry about crimes they definitely have never been sorry about.

@heartlesslyR
Humanities departments don’t have any money to throw around! That’s a huge difference! No one is giving them a billion dollars with an agenda to promote liberalism!
@thespidercove
@auspicioussauce
Why is this ironic? Are you aware that South Africa had a democratic transition in 1994 from a white ethnostate to a multi-racial democracy? Do you think this is the same country in any meaningful sense that did 70 years of apartheid?
@Birdsbirdbird
@ashleyscastro
The problem is that our society allows some people to make money while devaluing the contributions of other. If I produce a drug that took 500 academic chemists 50 years of research to build up to, none of them ever see a cent and I get rich. That’s why academia should pay better
@Lukewearechange
I will never cease to be amazed by the Right’s ability to turn things on their head and live in opposite-land. The “15-minute city” is one where everything is only 15 minutes away because it’s so easy to get around. They’ve turned that into “a city where you can’t get anywhere”
@InternetHippo
This is literally what my girlfriends brother has been telling us. He says any civilization that embraces “gender stuff” will fall. I think he got it from Rogan or some BS
@HelloCullen
I feel like calling it “unobtanium” was a nod to the fact that it doesn’t matter what it is, all that matters is it’s rare and valuable. Seemed like internal joke about the tropes of settler colonialist media. It’s gold! Spice melange! Ivory! Hardwoods!
@sasha_lysm
Yeah there’s a group of mercenaries recruited from prisons (Wagner group) who have been used as cannon fodder and their leader (Prigozhin) has decided to launch a coup against Moscow for not giving them enough support and for not winning the war.
@fasc1nate
Ok but medieval manuscripts would say like, a dragon was killed the other day, a giant carried off a girl, a bunch of goblins were doing nefarious things, God turned a man into an apple, etc.
@bill_hamblet
@davenewworld_2
It’s not about how long you live. It’s about progressing as a society. We should always be fighting to lower the retirement age. There’s plenty of money out there. What a sad vision of the world you have where we just keep doing the same thing forever.
@BotanyRules
I think decolonizing evolution should have more to do with confronting the racist history within the discipline and the neglected contributions of POC and their cultures to Eco/Evo, rather than trying to draw a tenuous through-line to a pre-Darwinian idea of natural selection.
@ettingermentum
It’s a really interesting arc because he was pretty universally acknowledged to have cheated his way to the governors mansion the first time, using his authority as Secretary of State to disqualify 45,000 eligible voters in key areas
@HeheWaitWhut
I think the point about the humor is key. It’s first and foremost funny as hell. And it doesn’t really matter after that if you agree or not. All three are some of the funniest cultural observers of our generation and it’s insanely lucky they happened to shack up together.
@depthsofwiki
I’m a scientist, and when I read about something outside of my field I generally can at least gain a little insight into what is being talked about. However, what is written below is an absolute foreign language to me, without a single intelligible word or phrase. Pure gibberish.
@usutav
@DanDavisWrites
Actually, usually hunter gatherers attempt to *avoid* becoming part of agricultural civilization. See James C. Scott’s “Against the Grain.” States try to force them into their system to pay taxes and contribute labor, but they avoid it if possible. Same for small scale farmers.
@feduna1
@davidminpdx
You’re not listening to what he has to say. Your *personal* anecdotal feelings about how much crime there is don’t outweighs the actual *data* about what was happening. Surely you know that if you get rained on, that doesn’t mean the entire state of CA is out of its drought.
@__seab
she is in the same position as Netanyahu. she only keeps her position as long as the conflict goes on. as soon as there's a lull or the dust settles, she's history.
@cgmooreauthor
@joshtpm
Congress has subpoena power. Seems simple enough for the Democratic Senate to subpoena Roberts and Alito and ask them to explain themselves. This branch of government has been without accountability for far too long.
