An old friend of mine has been working on the difficult job of digging this Buffalo LVT landing craft out of the mud after 74 years. It was 30ft (9m) deep! Cheers to Mike for letting me post. More photos below.
This is my neck of the woods. As a kid the rumour was that lots of these tanks were surplus to use & had been left deliberately & filled over with soil to provide a new river bank. This one, it turns out, sank in a hole. #WW2 Tank recovered after 74 years
