When I talk about antipsychiatry I am talking about those people who are against any psychiatric intervention full stop.
I am not talking about the harmed community who are looking for reform, but still respect the right for other patients to receive medical
This is a disturbing post, for many reasons, I will start with taking a photo and sharing (presumably) without permission.
We do not know the person’s struggles with health - absolutely no idea. They may have lost 4 stone here and feeling more positive.
I am pretty sure this
Social media : just go for a walk in nature and your depression will go

My first thought too. Shaming people for wanting to better their understanding and knowledge is bad taste. Also, the OP has no idea if this person had memory issues or learning impairments.
Changing this account due to antipsychiatry trolls.
I came on here to raise awareness of my lived experience with cPTSD, emotional eating & gastric sleeve harms.
Sharing my journey - honest and raw - has meant I spend most of my time now defending my use of

‘Virginity repair’ OMFG!!! I honestly didn’t know it was a thing. Those poor, poor girls. Find out who performed them whilst law was being passed, question and then make the facts public.
@ValerieAnne1970
My goodness & what a thought provoking post. “What ‘food’ would you give up to save all your toes” should be used more often to raise awareness of T2 diabetes 👏
@rwillowfish
Exactly this ⬆️ I remember calling the crisis team when I was 24/7 and they suggested I go out to the shop (across the road) for a change of scenery. I couldn’t step outside my front door at the time, had house alarms set etc.
I am a regular exerciser/ dog walker usually
When treated as less than human for having a mental illness, being female & being vocal - it can get a bit tough on here.
Then I get reminded of the wonderful community I am part of, sharing our experiences - highs & lows - and I feel safe and secure again.
Thank you to all
As a SSRI user who benefits, imagine if I jumped on the posts of every PSSD sufferer to celebrate my health, with “yes but I am doing well, they work really well for me” 🤷🏻♀️
Why can they jump on my posts to tell me I am not informed enough & to tell me I am harmed ??
Where is
I have seen people on here encouraging others to stop taking their psychiatric medications & using fear mongering language.
NEVER stop without professional guidance.
Also instead of believing what you see on here, speak to your Doctor for clarification. There is a HUGE amount
Gentle reminder: There is no shame in being medicated.
Make sure you speak with your doctor if you have questions.

Thank you so much for saying this and VERY well done, I really mean that. Shame can be induced internally and externally. Joanne you have got this, don’t let anyone say otherwise xx
I cannot believe I have been defending my personal use of an SSRI for a non-depression symptom, for months now.
Thinking of how many have been silenced into submission, breaks my heart.
There is an interface for the anti-medication, anti-depressant, antipsychiatry, PSSD
Not so gentle reminder, due to recent discussions on here about

To all of you whom were harmed through medications, I genuinely am sorry for your experience & I didn't cause that.
My experience is thankfully, very different. For that I am grateful and I should be allowed
Removing the biological aspect of mental illness is actually impossible.
To suggest it is possible demonstrates a lack of understanding around the brain & therefore, is a huge red flag if you’re looking for advice.
Sunday morning musings.
@befbadbelly
@DrAnnieHickox
It never fails to amaze me how people think there is a ‘one size fits all’ approach to anything related to the brain 🧠 and then abuse others for speaking about their experience if it doesn’t align with said universal approach.
Really interesting when antipsychiatry tell me I am emotionally blunted because I use a SSRI.
In conjunction with psychotherapy, I am more present than I have ever been.
Trust me, my emotions are not blunted, sometimes I ‘wish’ they were, as I process my healing from complex
Those of us who have benefited from psychiatry are treated as less than human at times.
The abuse and harassment I get from sharing my experience is beyond disgraceful.
What the trolls haven't realised is that trying to shut someone like me up, means I get louder.
Mental illness can often bring about self-shaming and depreciation. I struggled for many years thinking I was defective and irrepairable, this prevented me truly engaging with treatment.
Once I understood my behaviours arose from what happened to me, it all became clear.

Thank you for your acknowledgement & what a great Mum. She cared for so many people, who I have no doubt benefited patients and also their family/loved ones - care reaches more than the patient 🥰
Some will tell you depression is all in your head - well who would have bloomin’ thought it?
If you need to know:
-Depression isn’t laziness
-Depression isn’t a mindset
-Depression doesn’t vanish overnight
-Depression cannot be described, if not experienced
- Depression ruins
@waelgenga
Absolutely! Don't get me wrong it can be helpful for many, science shows that - but it depends on the level of depression and many other factors. I dislike the shaming element that people may feel by not participating, further feeding depression.
This is my new pinned post.
I came here to raise awareness of a cause very close to my heart, through being vulnerable I shared my use of SSRI (not for depression).
As a result I have received abuse and harassment from the antipsychiatry community.
Examples:
-I got lumped
When someone comments that meds have harmed them, I say ‘I am sorry for your experience’ - because I am.
It is VERY rare that they say ‘I am glad they have helped you.’
Do we have to negate one experience to raise awareness of another?
Do they actually wish me unwell?
There are a few accounts within antipsychiatry who have harassed me for talking of my personal experiences with cPTSD and psychiatry.
Instead of blocking me, they screenshot my posts and share within their community to mock & dehumanise me.
You are COWARDS.
@David_Challen
@StampOutSpiking
I hope they have learned some lessons since then!!!!! It is why people don’t come forward, I can’t say for sure, but expect it’s high in men.
The worst kind of response is invalidation 😞
For anyone who is unclear on my tweets.
I have run out of empathy for the ‘harmed’ community within antipsychiatry.
Why??
*Because they are often
misogynists.
*Because they have bullied me.
*Because they have personally abused me.
*Because they have professionally
If people want to discuss their bad experience with psychiatry then no one can stop you or invalidate that.
What I will not accept though is that all experiences have been the same, there are those of us who benefit. This is an undeniable fact.
To say those who benefit are
I have been thinking about this narrative that depression is not an illness.
Depression appears on a spectrum of course, in terms of severity, like many illnesses - but every experience is valid.

In September my daughter had a gastric sleeve operation by a GMC registered doctor.

You are a bully, I have the receipts. We see you! The post you shared was not about bad behaviour, I now understand it was about your personal bias.
Me: meds help me
Antipsychiatry: no they damage your brain

Antipsychiatry: no you are a drug addict now

Antipsychiatry: well done, welcome into our pact. We love and care for you.

@MikeJMele
I wish this was more understood. It is not that we were being selfish, but rather we thought we were being a huge burden to others and life would be better for everyone. It’s distorted for sure, but that’s the reality of su1cidal ideations.
So the anti-antidepressant mob are back out, telling people like me who benefit from a SSRI, they aren’t benefiting.
After months of this, I am even starting to question whether harms like PSSD genuinely exist.
Yes, I did say it. I have been understanding, engaging and asked
I tried to engage with antipsychiatry.
I tried to understand PSSD.
I shared my own personal journey with mental illness and received huge hate from both sides.
My stance has changed.
I genuinely question the validity of PSSD / harms. I think many of the issues were already
I have decided to start doing some media outreach work around antipsychiatry’s harassment of patients with mental illness.
Having been harassed relentlessly for about 6 months, after talking about my mental illness I have decided to stand up even taller.
I am looking at radio,
Been discussing X and today went something like this (shortened version):
Psychotherapist: How are you getting on with X
Me: Still pushing forward, it is hard at times
Psychotherapist: Why is it important to you?
Me: Because they are trying to silence my voice and invalidate

This is incorrect information.
This is a post designed to tarnish the use of any psychiatric medication for any mental illness.
General sweeping statements like these are intentionally designed to denigrate psychiatry.
This further stigmatises a critical avenue of care for
You will not find healing in a psychiatric drug, just as you wouldn’t find healing in a bottle of alcohol or synthetic drugs.
They are all the same…industries conspiring to keep you from evolving and reaching your full potential as a human being.

If anti-depressants harm those who use them & yet others experience harm without them, can we agree stigmatisation is not the solution and work on improving the system for monitoring/review including appropriate resources & funding for all?

It baffles me how a random stranger on social media, feels they can discredit someone’s diagnosis and use of medical interventions.
Instead of targeting those who benefit from said ‘labels’ and meds etc. with broad sweeping statements, start promoting additional intervention

I've been doing low carb this year (on the most part) and this is purely anecdotal, but for the first time in my life I am not needing my inhaler for asthma for at least 3 days (sometimes more). I am 51 years old and have been asthmatic since a child, I have been

Don't get me wrong science shows great effects, but this idea that it helps everyone is very unhelpful to those it doesn't help. It depends on many factors - for me its a great 'preventer' of an increase in severity when I experience episodes, but when it doesn't work - it simply
Quite a few of the antipsychiatry community getting their knickers in a real twist.
They are shouting into the ether about me with no evidence, every time I ask for it - radio silence.
Today I will share some of the harassment I have received from them on here.

I completely disagree, body image does not = credibility.
I remember when I was in the fitness industry, we had an amazing instructor/personal trainer who was overweight.
Results & performance are better determinants.
When talking about my SSRI medication, people on here called me a “drug addict.”
I have psychotherapy alongside my medication and also manage multiple lifestyle changes.
Yes my journey involves “pain” and “growth,” and with this I hope to come off my SSRI this year 🤞

I saw a post saying mental illness is not real, we have just lost the ability to connect socially.

People on here suggest depression is a symptom of the highs and lows of life.
No - incorrect, depression takes you to darker places, it doesn’t mean you aren’t strong - it means your brain needs professional help; that’s ok.
