I think the class and maturity Shoma showed this week goes far beyond medals. Mark said his sportsmanship was “Gold medal caliber,” and he was right.

I hope he knows the hearts that he touched. It's not only from his skating, but it's also because of the person he is; always looking out for others and caring more for them than himself. I hope he will continue to be who he is and touch everyone's hearts with his skating.
More than anything, I think the outpouring of support and love for Shoma is so emotional.
It’s lovely to see other skaters, fans of other skaters, interviewers, media people, photographers, commentators, regardless of whether they are a fan of him, appreciate him being here.

I think this is one reason I love him so much. I see parts of myself. I’m definitely shy and introverted. I’m socially awkward. And I hate when people are mad at me. And he reminds me that we all achieve things at our own pace. I want to be the quiet strength like him.
The more I read of Shoma’s interviews where he’s now become much more open about how he’s feels / sees the world, I realise another reason why adore him…
I see so much of myself in him, and with so much of what he says… I just get it and have an understanding - even the chaos
