People run red lights, park illegally, make illegal turns, speed, and ride around dangerously in motocross dirt bikes without plates. Nobody cares.

Public transit systems across CA are facing a fiscal cliff as federal emergency funds begin to run out. These systems are still recovering & the State needs to step in to stop massive service cuts. We’re working hard in the state budget to help our transit agencies remain viable.

It’s not like CA is becoming less compelling as time goes on. The weather is good. We boast powerful entertainment, tech, and agriculture industries.
No new housing = significant displacement of low & middle income earners.

If Paris, Tokyo, London, et al can have insanely good public transit, where a significant number of households don't own cars (50% of Londoners, 2/3 of Tokyoites, 2/3 of Parisians), then San Francisco can do the same.

One of a million reasons why rent control rules/policy in SF need to be thoroughly reexamined.
As someone who lives in a rent controlled unit in SF, I can confidently say that it is - on the whole - bad for the housing market. It’s good for some. Bad on the whole.
Do rent controlled homes in SF have to be your primary residence? I heard a bunch of people are keeping them as vacation homes back to SF. Seems awful….?

If “moderate” = rational person who wants to do the difficult unsexy work that’s necessary to fix things and make the city great, then I’m all in.
My latest column: San Francisco voters are angry, but they didn’t vote Tuesday in a “burn it all down” kind of way. They backed moderate candidates, but approved car-free streets and spending on transit, schools and libraries. Voters want a city that works.

Public high school teacher here who currently teaches a STEM subject.
80% of San Franciscans want algebra in 8th, according to citywide surveys.
Getting rid of algebra for 8th *worsened* equity gaps since it was first implemented in 2014.

Most of the candidates on this ballot are pure trash though. And I’m definitely fuck No on Prop E and Prop G.

Public school teacher here 🙋🏻
We need more housing of all types. Not just BMR housing or workforce housing (I actually find teacher housing insulting – I shouldn’t be forced to live in a teacher dorm). Market rate housing as well. It all helps to build adequate supply.
