- If buying a HDB (govt property), cannot sell or rent for 5 years. Must stay in the property
- Singapore has 2 years of mandatory military service for all local males who turn 18
@Dutta_Souravd
I started my portfolio in 2011, and now my dividends are around 2-3L , hopefully in about 10 years, they will touch 10L
Dividend stocks can also give good capital appreciation.
Below are the ones I've had great success with.
1. Infosys 2% dividend, last 5 years, 18% CAGR
2. ITC
This 500 page book taught me more about investing than my previous 10 books combined.
My 30 mins chat with the author
@Gautam__Baid
, was worth hours of business school lessons.
I've since read Joys of Compounding thrice, and I continue to uncover new insights.
Key takeaways:
@ThetaVegaCap
Electronics + AI + India's boom will power the sector much higher.
I am studying the following stocks.
1. BEL
2. Dixon - excellent performer
3. Havells
4. Tata Elxsi
5. RIR Power electronics
Not a recommendation, just my watchlist.
May make an entry when the valuations
@ThetaVegaCap
12% is conservative. Just by increasing the SIP every time the market falls/corrects by 10%, he can easily achieve 15%
I've actually used this strategy to beat the index, by just investing in the index.
@ThetaVegaCap
Much needed. Long term investors think this way.
Gamblers only want price to keep going up.
Newton found gravity in the summer of 1666 - works till today. Occasionally it may take time, but eventually, what goes up, WILL come down.

As this info graphic shows. The first 100k takes almost 8 years. The last takes only 1.35 years. This is at a meager 7%.
At 14% it's much faster.
@ivoteforNOTA
@stockifi_Invest
5k each month for 5 years is 4.35L at 14% per year.
And even a 1.3% increase at 4.35L = 5k which is your monthly SIP amount.
This is what the post is trying to explain. makes sense?
btw, I just posted morningstar's top three 5star rated mutual funds on my profile.
For the
I made 20% CAGR in the last 5 years, buying this —> Paper. Very old paper.
Yes, I collect antique paper money. Fancy Serial number, British India and Commonwealth bank notes.
Why is this profitable? see in 🧵
@_KiranRajput
Actually I did notice as my portfolio was up significantly
Thanks to the entry I made 3 years ago when Marcellus sold ITC.
I’ve always profited following the opposite of what these guys do 🙃
@ThetaVegaCap
As this chart shows. The first $100k takes almost 8 years. And the last $100k just 1.35 years.
Don't focus on results. Focus on accumulating units. The results will surprise you.
@thejustinwelsh
And a few more to the list
6. Buying your first stock
7. Experiencing a bear market
8. Learning a new language
9. Learning how to cook
10. Opening your twitter account
@ThetaVegaCap
Some companies I am keenly following
1. HDFC Bank
2. Asian Paints
3. Infosys
4. HUL
5. RIL
These 5 companies have strong moat and can provide stability to your portfolio.
Successful people aren’t necessarily brilliant or talented or gifted.
But they all have one thing in common. Each of them is highly motivated. That’s what drives them to try harder, work harder, take action, turn dreaming into doing. Stay motivated.
@ThetaVegaCap
Phenomenal. Do you think it will also generate similar returns in the next 20 years. ?
Fun fact - I got an offer from them in 2004. Should have bought the stock instead
@Vivek_Investor
People are ordering items from the menu without looking at the price , hoping someone will pay the bill.
The shock will come when the bill finally comes to you.
Whatever you’ve eaten can’t be taken out and don’t have money to pay the bill.
The state of the Indian equity market
@ThetaVegaCap
Discipline, conviction and commitment is what is really needed to win big. Not the amount.
Without discipline even a large investment amount can become small.
@KnuckleballCG66
A.
Amazon has an amazing moat. Anyone wanting to replicate will need to spend billions and still end up behind AMZN
Tesla - never bet against Musk. Just don’t.
$V. Long runway. Very stable revenues and profits. Inflation proof. Can’t ask for more.
@PRSundar64
Doesn't matter if the first ball goes to 6 or bowled. What matters is - who wins the match, series and the tournament.
Instead of betting on what's going to happen every ball - think big and you will end up with phenomenal returns
@ThetaVegaCap
The power of compounding is backloaded. Meaning most of the returns come after a few years. But sadly these days most people want to get rich fast and not slow.
@iancassel
Most people spend their lifetime figuring out the movements in share prices , which even Newton couldn’t do.
If only they spent half the time on focussing on the underlying business.
Sigh.
@ChanderBhatia01
A deer thought it had beautiful horns and ugly feet. The next day when a cheetah was chasing the deer, it's horns got stuck in the bushes but it's legs came to the rescue and it was able to outrun the cheetah.
What we see as negative may actually be a positive.

@Codie_Sanchez
Boring biz always has a high entry barrier. This is a version of moat too.
Chemicals , stationary, personal hygiene (Gillette) companies are Soo boring. But fantastic investments 👌🏽

Not financial advice, but the below has proven to be diverse enough to provide solid returns
1. Flexicap fund
2. Mid and small cap
3. Large cap.
3 SIP at different times of the month, in different AMC's (like ICICI, SBI, HDFC etc)
@soicfinance
On the other hand. Crisil is a phenomenal company. Most Organisations and investors go to them for ratings giving them perpetual business.
@ChanderBhatia01
Once you invest in equities early, your take home salary doesn’t really matter.
In your case, you would have caught the ITC and Asian Paints wave 🌊
@Ashton_1nvests
Drawdowns impair our decision making ability. So I try to make that during the good times.
Eg I will buy $NVDA at 60. Seems crazy
But it worked for me with $TSLA when it was $300 I wrote in my journal to buy at $140 and it did happen.
@aditya_kondawar
These are just equity based wealth. Byju's went from $22B to $1b within months.
I hope it doesn't happen to these folks, but my point being, their wealth is very volatile as it's entirely tied to their startup's valuations.
@heymaxkoh
Even if you own a solid stock, you will forced to sell at exactly the wrong time if you can’t hold. Build your RESERVE fund first. Then invest the rest. Not the other way around.
@souradeeptwelve
@CaVivekkhatri
Good profit of 46% in the last 5 years.
Decent returning equity
Recently stock price has gone up, but over the long term still negative (10 years back it was higher than this)
A picture is worth a thousand words.
Next time a buddy says he is waiting for markets to "drop lower", send them this chart! 😂
Waiting for markets to bottom "feels good" short-term.
But alas, it's actually the worst action one can take.
@PurusottamGupt2
@Atulsingh_asan
Just sharing my thoughts. Hope that's okay.
Excellent ROE and ROCE
Recent profits very high. But lacks consistency
Good promoter holdings.
Need to see if the company can continue it's steady profitability. Follow me for more insights
@Vivek_Investor
As India's per capita income increases, the discretionary spending also will increase.
If salary increases from 50k/month to 1L per month. People won't buy more soap, rice or shampoo.
But they will buy a better car, AC, new fridge, overseas travel etc.
Titan, Ethos, Kalyan etc
@arju_doc
@Dutta_Souravd
These are simple yet not easy to follow. Detailed study of company is required followed by capital and conviction to hold them
A dosa is a dosa. It is not a savoury, white crêpe yata yata...
A dosa has its own identity.
Fun fact: more dosas are eaten before lunch, than crepes in a month, across the globe.
If anything: a crêpe should be called a dosa, which is not even crispy 😂
@Akshat_World
And hence the need for mutual funds and solid stocks
