Invest in the time at older age groups to teach pitchers/catchers to call there own pitches. It empowers the player to experiment, places accountability on the bump, and allows athletes to improve through trial & error.
Dear coaches who insist on calling pitches from the dugout:
• You should be checking in with your starting pitcher after their pre game bullpen to see how they are feeling. What they feel comfortable with and how everything else is feeling.

Train for your goals year round. If pitching is your dream, be sure to continue training and throwing year round.

I watched the game…3 things contribute to keeping a pitcher’s arm healthy: Workload, biomechanics efficiency & functional strength. A HS age athlete w/ this workload is why there is a surge in arm injuries in the age group.
