Let’s talk about this. I love this image. Here’s what I see. • Bat at the top of the zone. • Head in-line with the bat. • Playing with a broken right pinky finger. • Left hand fingers gripping the bat. When this happened in last nights game a lot of thoughts ran through my

Trout had five plate appearances yesterday and reached base in all five. Today he was 0-4 with four strikeouts. One of the best players in the world was amazing yesterday and not very good at all today. Adults, pleasure remember stuff like this when watching kids play the game.

Believe it or not college recruiters and MLB scouts won’t mark you down for a bad game. In fact many would welcome the opportunity to see it. See how you handle yourself when things aren’t easy and smooth. They want to see how you handle adversity because at the next level you

Son, let’s be clear on something. When you’re more concerned with what the gun says than how many ball 4’s you’ve just thrown, you’re not a competitor. You’re not a pitcher. You’re just some guy who throws hard trying to pose as a pitcher. Learn to pitch if you want to last.

As players get older, especially into their HS years, they need to take ownership of their own preparation. How they play catch to how they use the tee. The focus they take into the weight room and the effort they give when no one is watching. Discipline will make or break them.
