I am sure I am not the first to have thought of this, but it would be super neat if we could convince the keepers of imperial units to change the length of an inch to 25.6 mm. Why?
Consider the following:
@sgh956
@RepWillBailey
Perhaps she has a simpler plan, put everyone who votes "no" into the next motion to expel members for violation of their Oath of Office. Solves the whole "re-election" question too! Efficient.
@Angry_Staffer
What's the over/under on Trump perjuring himself in the first 15 minutes of his NY deposition in August? And do you think Leticia James would pursue it?
@inkxel
@0x0ddc0ffee
The worst part of getting hired for that role would be the running back and forth to opposite sides of your desk during your 1:1's with yourself.
@RadioFreeTom
I was thinking about your comment of people like Musk and Trump looking in the window and wishing for “respect” that they believe they deserve. Never realizing that “respect” is a side effect of character, and choosing not to develop good character forever bans them from respect.
@Angry_Staffer
Will there be enough blowback from Thomas' antics to get real Supreme Court ethics rules in place? Or will he just "run out the clock" until the news cycle moves on.
@NorahODonnell
@CBSNews
@CBSEveningNews
While applaud their efforts, it isn't punitive. My suggestion is they change the rule such that any interruption adds an ADDITIONAL minute of uninterrupted time for the other speaker.
In that way, the behavior hurts the goal and thus stops?
@GeorgeTakei
I tried to explain to some folks that if you are okay with "some of the things the fascists are doing" and ignore the other things, you're part of the problem. Same with voting rights.
@ditzkoff
@Popehat
Remember that "law & order" does NOT mean "rule of law" it means "This is the tool we use to oppress people we don't like, it doesn't apply to people we like."
It is a very fascist/dictator kinda thing.
@Rschooley
The Regeneron people said it had 10 applications for compassionate use, there were 37 (and counting) people who were in the WH orbit who have tested positive. Wonder if any of them made the cut?
@paulg
I explain to people that actually having a kid unlocks "parent firmware" in your brain that is inaccessible prior to having kids. They don't believe me until they have kids, and then it is "Holy f**k! What just happened?"
Here is an idea for CEOs. You can get 100% of your staff to return to the office with one simple trick, build each of them a little room in the building with a door were they can do their work! Genius right?
@Too_Big_To_Fail
@bestofnextdoor
Tell that to the dozens of neighbors on our Nextdoor community to post pictures of opossum's and are mystified by these "mutant rats".
@wartranslated
That's pretty intense. I am always reminded by something my grandfather once said about organizations, "When internal strife becomes public, it usually indicates that the organization is in dire straits." I can only hope that Russians throw off autocracy for good this time.
One can observe that Ukraine has begun taking out more artillery systems. It seems that "something changed" and as a curious person I've been analyzing various sources and trying to puzzle it out. One thing that changed is the US is now sending Switchblade-600's. 1/n
@MattLaslo
@mattgaetz
Okay, I've heard of dinosaurs and flowers on your diapers but "House Resolutions" ? I asked a diaper manufacturer if you could get House Resolution diapers and they say, "Depends."
@jaboukie
Uh never? Well not if you want your cast iron to continue to function.
You remove food, you pour 1/2" of water in it heat it on a stove top to boiling. When it is at a good boil you take it off swirl it around and dump it out into the sink. Then rub it with olive oil. Done.
@RonFilipkowski
Sounds like socialism to me, I mean telling other people they should pay their money to fix your problems is socialism right? I'm pretty sure that is what he said.
@tribelaw
Of course it would be, the significance here is the potential of Republicans going on record in opposition to the "Rule of Law." It is *THIS* point that the media must focus on, Republicans explicitly repudiating the founding principles of this country. That defines un-American.
@SethAbramson
Well if we were just having a trial and we could call these people to come testify under oath about that evening. Oh wait! Look what is on the calendar!
@goodjuju4all
@Angry_Staffer
Absolutely. Now that the "truth" of the "little green men" is incontrovertible, returning Crimea to Ukraine is absolutely sanctioned by the rest of the world. Will it be difficult? Likely and there will be many stories of Russians who feel cheated out of their property. Not sorry
@KyivIndependent
"roaming" Starlink service costs $135/month in the US, 20,000 terminals for 12 months @ $135/month is US $32.4 million dollars. *NOT* $400M, not even close.
@petestrzok
@jacklgoldsmith
Agreed it is thought-provoking but it overlooks the real issue. If criminals are *not* prosecuted (political or not) then everyone loses faith in the rule of law and our democracy becomes weaker. One school of thought is that public servants should be PREFERENTIALLY prosecuted.
@tribelaw
This is the part I find most disturbing. I get the "just politics" argument for people doing things to enhance their election/re-election chances, but a literal insurrection and this persistence of denial, much more worrisome.
@AstroKatie
Same energy: "What? You wash your hands after pooping? Don't you have a typhus and cholera shots?"
I'm with you Katie, if I catch it it may be mild, it may not, but since I have tools to minimize my risk, dammit I use them. I don't feel any guilt now about a vented N95 tho...
@loose_electron
@engineers_feed
Dude, clearly he is a C++ programmer and he has overloaded the '+' operator (as one does) and now can read his own code or understand what it does.🤣🤣
@Popehat
If only we had thought about this question, maybe gathered experts and assembled a "playbook" of responses based on the emerging threat, created a group to explicitly monitor for this threat, and filled a stockpile of equipment we might need on short notice. 🤔
@PhillipsPOBrien
So much this ⬆️the trick is defining "win". Some of these opinion pieces clearly think "winning" is Ukraine receiving the unconditional surrender from the Russian Federation. And I doubt that would happen. Getting all their territory back and reparations? Totally doable IMHO.
@KlasfeldReports
Judge: And what is your damage award?
Jury: All of it, everything Alex has ever owned or loved is now owed. All his money and all his assets, and any additional money or assets he gets between now and the end of his miserable life.
@FPWellman
@DevinCow
I give my father-in-law credit, he carried through on his threat and moved to Brazil rather than live in the US under Obama.
And then complained bitterly about how crappy a country Brazil was (completely unfair in my mind, there is no requirement for everyone to speak English)
@LeaKissner
Back in the 90's I worked at a company that released on on-premises Internet Appliance. In order to be "easy to use" it defaulted "anonymous FTP" to "enabled."
If anyone tells you this is a good idea, I can assure you it is not.
@SethAbramson
When I tweeted on Nov 24th, after we had added 3 million new cases by that point, that it meant 61,000 people who were here for Thanksgiving would not see Christmas, people said "But Chuck, they said, treatment is much better now!" I was wrong, it will be 75,000.
@Angry_Staffer
Personally I think the DA should meet with liquor stores to make sure they have enough champagne on hand to meet the needs of the people who will be toasting and celebrating.
@kenshirriff
Dude, DO NOT APPLY POWER TO ALIEN TECHNOLOGY. That is like rule
#1
okay? Now the mothership probably knows where we are and we're unprepared.
@MuellerSheWrote
@RepSwalwell
I think it is very important for our democracy to prosecute these guys and be very open that their options for change are speech & voting, not threats & attacks.
@wartranslated
The thing that really strikes me about this video is the guy talking has a flak jacket and helmet but when everyone runs, it is clear he is the ONLY one protected. Clearly it was a costume not that they expected trouble where they were going.
@gtconway3d
Given that every single rally the former guy did was like watching a bad comedian who adds exactly one new joke every 10 or 15 shows, having a blog with the ability to see the contents of previous shows really reflects how little he has to offer.
@dog_rates
When you see someone drowning, throw them a corgi? It does seem non-intuitive.
"In the event of a water landing, remove the corgi from under your chair and proceed to the nearest exit."
@CalltoActivism
@chuq
@AOC
And to think some people think it is unnecessarily inflammatory to suggest lawmakers that participated in a coup attempt be expelled.
@DrEricDing
“everyone had a negative antigen test OR had a booster shot.” — this suggests that not everyone was vaccinated. I really dislike when reports like this don’t break out the population by “unvaccinated”, “one shot vaccinated”, “two mRNA shot vaccinated”, “vaccinated + boosted.”
Talk about geek problems! I've got a raspberry pi on my network, I can log into it, but I can't find the physical machine nor does anything on it tell me what it thinks it should be doing ... 🤔
@d_feldman
It is funny how many folks I know took this route. You know when Facebook went public it created > 1000 multimillionaires. They didn't go on to be their own founders, a bunch went and retired to a compound in some rural area to code in peace.
@Popehat
Preppers: I'm prepared to survive a complete collapse of civilization!
Also Preppers: I don't get "experimental" vaccines just because some "expert" says the "might" save my life!
I found this belt? headband? About a year ago on a walk and installed it on a cable access box. Today I saw the cable guy replace it after servicing something inside. 😂😂
@MLE_Online
@wartranslated
Interesting to read things from senior leaders who have to cloak truths to avoid offending the generals and Putin. The only “mistake” was mentioning HIMARS in Donbas after the MoD has repeatedly reported destroying all of them. Perhaps this transgression is okay?
@wartranslated
Something you would think Human Rights Watch (
@hrw
) would _actually_ be interested in, you know the violation of human rights, but no they are silent on the real issues.
@ProjectLincoln
This is a direct effect of the caustic rhetoric that conservatives are spewing. Read their emails, they are asserting that anyone who is not for Trump is going to violently overthrow the country and put Trump supporters in jail. This is wrong on so many levels.
@wartranslated
And who says sanctions don't work? These out bursts seem isolated at the moment but the tension is real. Putin is creating the energy that, when harnessed, and change entire countries. It is like a gift to Navalny
@sama
The nuance is perhaps that the "work in front of a computer" as data entry / process execution (say car rental agent) vs data analysis and algorithm design (programmer / analyst). The former goes away and the latter gets more complex/specialized.
@Angry_Staffer
Oh, oh, I know that one. Is that the one that talks about how the VP "used" Biden to get close so that she can get rid of him and rule over us in black woman fury?
Frankly I'm so glad my Dad doesn't forward these things to me any more. Its tiresome.
@duty2warn
Is there a "preponderance of the crimes" level of conviction? How about "beyond reasonable doubt" that crimes were committed? Sort of "we got tired of organizing all the ways you crime, so you're just gonna lock you up while we work through them."
I gotta say, telling Litex "make me a CPU and boot it" on this
@1bitsquared
Icebreaker FPGA board it pretty much the kind of magic I was promised computers would deliver in the "far future."
@Brodie_Friesen
The straightening would absolutely count as cold work on the iron (making it more brittle/less tough) however I would expect them to anneal the resulting rods in a furnace to restore the toughness.
@bengold
I actually had that conversation with my manager at Google and he agreed it was "sub optimal" but said it is the system that we have so either you can embrace it or not.
It was pretty sad. From that point on I didn't both with the theater.
@secretsqrl123
@BoiOfcanada
A more interesting thing, to me, about the FV432 is that it can "swim" at 6km/h according to wikipedia. Carries 10 troops. So 100 of these could drop 1000 troops on the other side of a water hazard, which seems useful.
