@slmgoldberg Perhaps, although one can say because of the English experience the Constitution prohibited governmental meddling with religion.

In 1550, John Hooper was imprisoned because as bishop of Gloucester, he refused to wear the "Aaronic vestments." In this he was acting....wait for it.... Dispensationally.

“Men, why are you doing these things? We also are men, of like nature with you.” Acts 14:15 Of like nature is ὁμοιοπαθής (homoiopathēs), of like passions. Homeopathy, or homeopathic medicine ("like cures like") comes from this. Used 2X, the other in James to describe Elijah.

But the unbelieving Jews stirred up the Gentiles and poisoned their minds against the brothers. Acts 14:2 Sort of odd that this is translated as "unbelieving." The word is ἀπειθέω (apeitheō) to disobey. Some do indeed have "disobedient." Occurs 14X, usually as disobey.

Patrick Hamilton, a Scottish Reformer was tried and burned, under Archbishop Beaton’s eyes, in 1528, afirming in the slow fire with heroic constancy his scriptural faith. He was only 24. Many were led to think well of the doctrines that could call forth such a testimony. Beaton was advised to burn other heretics in deep cellars, ‘for the reek of Patrick Hamilton has infected all that it blew upon.’
