Got to agree...Struggling to see much of a downside.
In the longer term going to the office a couple of days a week is probably the optimal case. On the whole I have been much more productive as I am not spending 3 hours a day commuting harming both mental and physical health

Be careful what you wish for...I will commute it you make me but be aware it will mean I work probably 10 hours less per week than when working flexibly.
And as for productivity - try doing actual work in a noisy open plan...at best it is a rubbish environment

What it does suggest is that with a variant as infectious as Omicron these sort of "tinkering around the edges" restrictions are pretty fundamentally pointless.
