I disagree. If you are hosting a baby shower just to get everything you need for baby, you’re missing the point. I view a baby shower as a way of celebrating baby& mom, not stocking their house with baby things. The parents should be responsible for buying what they need for baby.
baby showers are not "just to celebrate that a baby is coming", baby showers are to get gifts. baby showers are part of "it takes a village." . weddings and birthdays can be a toss up, it *can* just be wanting to celebrate, but baby showers are to help people get what they need!.

@emilykmay I am definitely pro family but I think it’s a societal thing - where I grew up it’s not common to expect to get everything you need for baby at the shower. Yes gifts are nice but not the point.

@Andy35o Depending on their ages I would have them all share (2 in one bedroom each) and have the spare has a playroom. But I know that wouldn’t work for every age/family.

@Minnyfilipino It’s through the government but my job is required to hold my job for when the leave ends. I can also “quit” and therefore not return at the end of the leave. I get paid, which is why I took it. Otherwise yes I would be a SAHM.

My cycle has returned and it’s so far very consistent?? Is this my body’s way of saying time to try for baby #2?? 😏😂.

@FranciKing15848 @milagracesmom This is absolutely not the case for every breastfeeding woman.

@thatssocheeky @smalltown_wife Why is paid maternity leave not the answer? I’m curious bc I got 18 months paid leave in Canada, paid for by the government. It was wonderful.

@Minnyfilipino In Canada, the government pays a partial amount of what you earn for the entire 12 or 18 month leave. Your job can absolutely hire someone while you’re away but they are required to take you back once the leave is up. That is my understanding anyway. I think it’s a great system.

I’m not going to defend my opinion to strangers on the internet. But I will add that spending lots of money on a baby shower & then getting upset you also have to buy baby stuff bc people didn’t gift what you need is insane thinking to me. Don’t rely on other people to buy it all.

@BeckyBeefJerky I personally hated using a cover, it made me too hot. I double shirt so I have one covering my tummy and one covering my chest. If I don’t have that then I hold a blanket over my chest. I feed whenever, wherever like that.

@ashBO4yuh We always give our daughter a small bowl of cheerios within half an hour of waking up and then we’ll make our bigger breakfasts while she eats and she eats with us as well.

@homemakinghunny Not something I said but near the end the nurses and doctor were trying to get me to push but it was not working and it felt ridiculous so I started laughing. Then I actually got the feeling of needing to push and it made much more sense of what they were trying to say 😂.

@faithmaycreate Give yourself an extra 20 minutes when you have to leave the house. When in doubt, add water - drink water, have a bath, splash in the sink. If all else fails go outside. Bring snacks everywhere. It’s okay to sit and be with them when they need a minute. Have fun!.

Yes to 6 kids, growing our own food and living slightly out of town. But I am absolutely not a farmer in any sense haha.
So you're telling me you don't wanna get married, have 6 kids, move to the country, buy a homestead, get baby cows, grow our own food, drink raw milk all day and live happily ever after?

@grace_kalman Can confirm as I’ve seen it with a friend and her husband - it’s embarrassing for everyone. I hate it.

Working with my daycare kids - the families who put a high emphasis on emotional parenting had the kids with the most emotional outbursts and problems. There is a time and place to explain why a child might be feeling a certain emotion and how to help them through it but every.
Recently changed my parenting approach away from any focus on emotions & feelings. 5yr old was having big difficulty w emotion regulation, mostly at school. Following the more recently popular parenting advice out there, I’d started putting big attention on identifying, talking.
