Wanted to say thank you to the Dallas Mavericks for the opportunity to assist the team during the 2024 NBA Draft process. What an incredible opportunity to do my dream job with some fantastic people.
Like 50% of NBA players just lazily get labeled as 3&D players when realistically the list of players who are 80th percentile plus as both shooters and defenders (and aren’t top 40 players) is ~10-15 guys a year.
Adama Sanogo's touch is special on film and the numbers agree. Compared to all college bigs drafted in the past 5 drafts Sanogo's BY FAR
#1
in efficiency and volume on non-dunk rim attempts in the half-court.

The Thunder are 9th in defensive rating. Their center rotation is 6'8 Jeremiah Robinson-Earl and Mike Muscala. Three of their top 4 in minutes are SGA, Tre Mann, and Josh Giddey.
This all is to say, Lu Dort is definitely my DPOY pick so far.

How many players, on average, would you guess are on the same NBA team as 3 seasons ago?
The answer is 3.07!! The average team has *just over 3* of the same players as 3 years ago.
With so much turnover, why does Draft discourse focus so much on team fit?
I will be at Summer League from the 7th-9th. I'm still looking to land a role with an NBA or G-League team. If any of you will be there on the same dates let's set up some time to chat!
Really excited to finally launch the project myself and 17 others have been working on for a few months now. Hope you guys will enjoy the content. There's already so much incredible stuff lined up.
NEWS: James Nnaji, a projected first round pick, has declared for the NBA draft, his agents Gerard Raventos and Deirunas Visockas told ESPN. Scouts consider Nnaji perhaps the most physically gifted player in the draft at 6'11 with a 7'5 wingspan.

Whoever that guy who made the video pre draft gassing vince cooked like crazy, dribble shoot defend pass wing who can actually defend and handle and he’s on 2ms a year? Lmaoo
It's really easy to glance over Sanogo as an upperclassman big who got a lot of his work done in the post. But digging into the film there's a lot to like about his projection in an NBA role!
-Fluid closeout attacker
-Quick & accurate passing reads
-Promising shot 36% on 52 3PA
The Ayo discourse was crazy year 1. As soon as teams stopped closing out on him it ruined his offensive game. But it’s swung too far the other way. He’s a great defender, great passer, good transition player and finisher. If he can consistently hit a spot-up 3 he’s a ~top 100 guy
Restricted free agent G Ayo Dosunmu has agreed on a three-year, $21 million deal to stay with the Chicago Bulls, agent Mike Lindeman of

tells ESPN.
The consensus around Podz and Dariq is a bit confusing to me. Just fail to see any outcomes where either isn’t an impactful player for multiple contracts.
This!! It’s basically a big part of why I dislike the 3&D label cause most of the players who are good enough at both would never be labeled as 3&D because it undersells what they provide.
I used this app to keep in touch with friends I’ve made through basketball but it has become draining. Imane Khelif is and always was a woman. This shift in the goalposts shows it has always been about certain individuals want to control women and others want to spread hate.
I think the people who are suggesting GG has nothing to lose by opting-out are severely undervaluing how beneficial the reps he’s getting this season are to his development.
With every game he’s increasing the likelihood that he thrives in the league after getting drafted.
If you put 5 league average defenders on an NBA court your defense will perform poorly.
There are maybe 5 guard defenders so good that you can surround them with average defenders and they can carry you to a ~top 10 defense.
Without a shred of doubt Cason Wallace will be one.
Had a really great time

. All of the attention is rightfully on the playoffs, so I wanted to help everyone stay up to date on the draft with a quick recap. Would especially recommend the section on Craig Porter Jr. who is maybe my new favorite sleeper in the class.
The NBA pre-draft process is officially underway!
@ChipJNBA
was there in person and has the breakdown on who helped their draft stock and everything we learned from the Portsmouth Invitational Tournament. Including 3 standout players you need to know!
Obviously a lot of the focus is on Wemby and Bilal Coulibaly for Mets 92 and rightfully so. I do think their teammate Armel Traore's being a bit slept on however. Well filled out frame at 6'8 and only 20 years old. Super interesting how comfortable Mets are putting him on PGs.

One of the most impressive 2-way stretches of the season from any prospect by 6'9 UCF freshman Taylor Hendricks down the stretch against a very respectable 10-1 Missouri team.
Compiled all the late game heroics with some dunks, 3's, blocks, and a crazy buzzer beater finish.
Culmination of a lot of hours of work from about a dozen people.
As someone who consumes so much draft content it was a fun process to approach a big board from the other side this time
If you check it out I'd love to hear any feedback and will also be answering any draft q's🔽

I understand the concern with OTE as a development context, but I think a lot of the arguments against it over-fixate on the games themselves and the ways the league advertises itself.
The NBA draft is in the books but things are far from determined. Many 2023 one-and-dones came off of high-profile HS/AAU careers to then be limited by either role or injury.
@DraftPow
offers up some home remedies for how their drafted teams can make up for the missed time:
One of the kindest and most talented players I’ve ever had the chance to work with moved across the world to play in America and unfortunately had his tuition money stolen from him if anyone is able to help pitch in or share this link it’s appreciated.
Has anyone read the R for Data Science book? Thinking about using that instead of Code Academy/SoloLearn for my study this summer, but looking for advice.
Learned 4 coding languages in 2 months and spent almost every night up till 2AM with

If you find any bugs please tell me and I fix :)
Almost every NBA team runs Zoom action. A guy who can screen, pass, shoot, handle ball pressure, and attack downhill like Adama can be a perfect catalyst in that action.
Shooting and attacking downhill as a trailer would be perfect in Delay sets.

I’ve thought for a while if I were running an NBA team I’d try to persuade my owner to buy a small overseas team for us to develop players at I think it would be a better alternative to the G-League. Is there any rule preventing a team from stashing an American college draftee?

Ben always puts out great content. This was no exception. On spacing/ shooting and why it’s hard to get stops in today’s NBA. Worth the 15 min.

Furman's length and aggressive gap defense on GG Jackson paired with South Carolina's dire floor spacing created a great atmosphere to really dissect where the 17-year old is at as a passer.
For those unfamiliar. The max vertical jump calculation is how high you touched on the max vertical jump test minus your standing reach. By doing things like shrugging your shoulders you can measure a few inches shorter on standing reach which overinflates your vertical jump.
What is the highest number of valuable long-term players (like 15+ mpg of positive play) developed by one team from their "young core" at the same time? I also wonder what the average is.
Wanna put this one out there for those just joining draft season now. Max Lewis’ is very much valued due to his shot creation abilities and is very much not a 3&D player despite the prototypical size.
Pepperdine's Maxwell Lewis, a projected first round pick, will forgo his remaining college eligibility and enter the 2023 NBA draft, he told ESPN.

ESPN Sources: Memphis Grizzlies G/F Vince Williams Jr. is expected to sign a new three-year, $7.9M guaranteed contract. Williams — 47th overall pick out of VCU in 2022 — is believed to be getting the most guaranteed money coming off of a two-way deal.

Can someone with Rayan Rupert top 20 explain their reasoning to me? What are some examples of rail thin forwards with that limited of an offensive game working out?
Excited for the Kings this year. They had a great offseason all things considered. Acquiring an approximate all-star level big is probably an underrated way to quickly turn a team around.

From last night: Warriors shared with league office that they believe Blazers withheld relevant medical information prior to agreeing on the trade. NBA could punish Portland with fine/loss of picks if investigation were to discover "a failure to disclose relevant information.”
📽️New Saturday evening video on one of the most fascinating setups in the league to me: the Wolves "twin tower" defense, and why it hasn't clicked so far.
Not trying to say there aren't issues with OTE or that it's better than the other paths. Just think solely focusing on the quality of the games misses a lot of important stuff!
As a side note Dom Barlow's looked a lot better than a ton of college guys in the G-League this year.
Quick Brandon Miller thought
I think he defends structured actions better than random off-ball help scenarios
His defense vs MSU was far better than vs UConn. I wonder if that's related to the amount of prep time Bama had for the games 5 days off before MSU then 0 before UConn.
I think some of the recent RJ Barrett development is a good example of how the playoffs can be an exceptional development environment.
Getting to play the same personnel 4-7 times in a row provides a nice platform to fail, learn, and immediately apply what you’re learning.
I feel like wingspan is a flawed measurement for what the measurement is trying to provide context to “length”. Some players have super wide chests while others are narrow and that difference in chest width is effecting wingspan measurements by a few inches.
