@LTF_01 And historically group selection was put forward as an explanation for various behaviours that have since been shown to be individual selection e.g. cooperation. So I guess that gives it a bit of a stigma

@mezaoptimizer There are different types of simulation. Bostrom’s original argument was that a lot of it is “fake” to trick us while keeping compute low. You need low compute so there are lots of simulations. If you simulate the entire universe then you need a universe sized computer
