The refusal of the #Kuki MLAs to sit together with other MLAs during peace discussions has clearly exposed their real intent and the external command they are serving. It is unacceptable that the Kukis continue to position themselves as the sole victims in this conflict, while it is well known that they initiated the violence, falsely accusing #Meiteis over the so-called "fake gate burning" incident. To this day, many Meiteis remain missing, yet the narrative continues to paint the Kukis as the only aggrieved party. What is even more troubling is that these Kuki MLAs do not truly represent the entirety of their constituencies, as they were also voted in by non-Kuki communities. It’s shameful that these so-called leaders are being controlled by their terrorist-aligned civil society organizations (CSOs), which have become mere front groups pushing an agenda of separatism. These groups seem more interested in prolonging the violence than in fostering genuine peace. While it was heartening to hear that the discussions aimed for peace, the facts on the ground tell a different story. We know exactly who is attacking whom, and history has shown that whenever the Kukis want to escalate the conflict, they will target and attack Meitei villages to keep tensions high. The government's decision to appease them with separate meetings, rather than holding a united front for all parties involved, was not only disappointing but a dangerous precedent. How can peace be negotiated if one side is allowed to set preconditions and manipulate the process by refusing to engage collectively? The current approach undermines the very essence of reconciliation and serves only to embolden those who have no interest in a peaceful resolution. It is imperative that the state and central authorities recognize these tactics for what they are—a calculated effort to fuel division and maintain a cycle of violence.
