On 08.02.2025, Security Forces and Forest Department in presence of District Magistrate, Churachandpur District conducted destruction of illicit poppy cultivation at G. Monglian village hill range under Sangaikot-PS, Churachandpur District. During the destruction, approx. 5 acres of illicit poppy plants which could yield about 25 kg of illicit opium were destroyed and 10(ten) nos. of Poppy pods were seized as evidence.

On 08.02.2025, Manipur Police arrested 01(one) active member of RPF/PLA, namely, Ningthoujam Khamba @ Nganba Meitei (52) from Nagamapal Kangjabi Leirak Machin near Public toilet under City-PS, Imphal West District. The arrested person is directly involved in extortion activities from rented houses and shops in Nagamapal and Uripok area. From his possession, the following items were recovered: iv.01(one) two-wheeler. v.02(two) nos. of mobile handsets. vi.01(one) wallet containing Rs. 510/- (five hundred ten) and one Aadhaar Card.

In another case, on 08.02.2025, Manipur Police arrested 02 (two) active members of the outfit UNLF (Pambei) namely (1) Khoisnam Ronaldo Singh (23 years) and (2) Soram Ngouba Meitei @ Sanatomba (30 years) from Narankonjil near Chandranadi Village, Imphal-West District. They were directly involved in extortion activities from general public, government officials, shopkeepers etc. in Greater Imphal areas and in illegal smuggling of arms and ammunitions for use in extortion purpose. From their possession, the following items were recovered: .32 Pistol along with magazine 02-wheeler vehicle vii.02(two) nos. of mobile phones viii.01(one) wallet containing Rs. 3120 /-.

Search operations and area domination were conducted by security forces in the fringe and vulnerable areas of hill and valley Districts. Movement of 334 nos. and 237 nos. of vehicles carrying essential items along NH-2 and NH-37 respectively has been ensured strict security measures are taken up in all vulnerable locations and security convoy is provided in sensitive stretches in order to ensure free and safe movement of the vehicles. On 07.02.2024, Security Forces arrested 2(two) individuals, namely, Maniraj (35) of Bajagra village, 25 Miles IT Road, Kangpokpi District and Yam Bahadur (49) of Bajagra village, 25 Miles IT Road, Kangpokpi District along with 20 nos. of Khaini cases containing suspected opium (Kani) weighing 642.09 grams in total, along with weight of the cases, from the hill range of Lanka village, Kangpokpi District.

During the search operation, the following items were recovered. i.01(one) .303 Rifle, 01(one) Bolt Action Rifle, 02(two) nos. of SBBL Gun, 01(one) .22 Pistol with magazine, 01(one) 9 mm Pistol with magazine, 05(five) nos. of 36 HE Hand Grenade, 01(one) Chinese HE Hand Grenade, 04(four) nos. of 40 mm HE Lethod Grenade, 01(one) long range modified Mortar shell, 02(two) nos. of 2-inch Mortar HE shells with carrier, 10(ten) nos. of SLR empty cases, 02(two) nos. of Tear Gas Grenades, 01(one) Stun Grenade, 01(one) Smoke Grenade, 02(two) nos. of Smoke shell Soft Nose (LR 135 MTR), 03(three) nos. of Smoke shell Soft Nose (SR 50 MTR), 01(one) Smoke shell dual, 01(one) Wood Piercing shell (CS), 04(four) nos. of Anti-Riot rubber bullets, 02(two) nos. of Smoke Chilli Grenade, 03(three) nos. of Tear Smoke shell normal, 02(two) nos. of Tear Smoke shell CS and 01(one) plastic sack which was used in concealing the above items from fringe area between Aigejang foothills under Nambol-PS, Bishnupur District.

On 06.02.2025, Security Forces arrested one person, namely, Md.Tajuddin (29) of Lilong Litan Makhong from the highway near Anita STD High School, Kwakta Pangal Lamkhai under Phougakchao Ikhai-PS, Bishnupur District. The following items were seized from his possession: i. suspected to be Brown Sugar (1041 grams) ii. 01(one) four-wheeler iii. 01(one) mobile handset.

On 05.02.2025, Manipur Police arrested 01(one) person, namely, Md. Anwar Hussain (41) from Kairang-Heingang Khong area under Heingang-PS, Imphal East District in connection with abduction of 02(two) non-locals namely, Rintu Mina (37) of Kanaimara Part 2, Dhubri Assam and Montu Sheikh (20) of Gasbari, Assam P.O. Purandiara who had been abducted from Hatta, Near Public Hospital. The abductees were safely rescued by Manipur Police.

This news is misleading. As per the preliminary findings Senjam Shyam Singh s/o S. Tomba Singh, a resident of Yairipok Top Chingtha, Thoubal district, is a personnel of the 7th IRB, Manipur and recently completed his 1st basic training course of riflemen at Dergaon, Assam. He joined the recruitment process for 10th and 11th IRB in 2019. In job recruitment, the standard age proof certificate is Matriculation Certificate. During the time of recruitment process, he fulfil the age eligibility criteria ( 18-26 years) as per his matriculation certificate.

On 05.02.2025, Security Forces intercepted a truck carrying cough syrup containing codeine phosphate, "WINCEREX" numbering 1560 bottles in 13 different boxes at Leingangpokpi under Jiribam PS, Jiribam District. Accordingly, the same was seized and the driver of the truck, namely, Maibam Premjit Singh (52) was arrested. A case has been registered at Jiribam PS for further investigation.

On 04.02.2025, Manipur Police arrested 02(two) active members of KCP(PWG) group, namely, (i) Ningthoujam Jupiter Singh @ Bungcha (27) and (ii) Sorokhaibam Amarjit Singh @ Halakpa Khuman @ Abo (28) from Mahabali under Porompat-PS, Imphal East. The arrested persons were directly involved in extortion activities from general public, govt. officials, shopkeepers etc. in greater Imphal areas. From their possession, the following items were recovered. 1.01(one) M20 Pistol loaded with 05 (five) live rounds in the magazine. 2.01(one) two-wheeler. 3.01(one) sling bag. 4.02(two) nos. of mobile phones.

On 04.02.2025, Manipur Police arrested one cadre of PLA namely Pukhrambam Prem Singh @ Hopson (47) of Ningthoukhong ITI road Ward no 13 from Ningthoukhong, Bishnupur District. He was involved in extortion of huge amount of money from general public, businessmen, government officials in Nambol, Bishnupur and Ningthoukhong areas. From his possession, 3 mobile phones, wallet with PAN, Aadhaar, cards were recovered.
