I think a better way would be using a "regulation wins"stat (games won without requiring a map 5). In this case TO would finish ahead of philly because they have 4 (ROW) and philly only has 3. This way you don't knock a team for closing out a series early. 2-1>3-2 IMO (2/2)
I'll actually never understand the hate Matheson gets lol
He had 62 points last year,28 PPP, played vs the 4th hardest competition in the NHL for 26+ mins a night on a terrible team with a terrible PP and a 21 year old D playing on his off side while making 4.8 million a year
It's funny seeing Fans already making panic opinions 4 games into the season. Our best prospect isn't on the team. 2nd best is hurt, Hage is cooking in the NCAA Laine is hurt and Dach is coming back after a year off and we have 2 1st's & 2 2nds this year
Everyone Breathe lol
I truly think Shane Wright is the most underrated prospect in the NHL
It's crazy how people act like this kids a bust despite getting 22 goals and 47 points in 59 games and 13 points in 12 games in the AHL playoffs
I still think he goes
#2
in a redraft 5 years from now
I am really surprised that Habs fans watched Dvorsky score a 10 Goals in 10 Games(21points) at J20 level. Then carry a Slovak team and score another 8 goals in 7 games(13 points), all with a June Bday + 6'1, 201 pound frame while STILL being 17.
He's a very good prospect
Is Mailloux the most underrated prospect in the NHL? I know he can't defend but he's still only 20 like holy.
Habs wrote this guy off (as just a hockey prospect, I totally understand the other stuff) way too early
Allegedly Anton Silayev has said in an interview that Columbus and Utah has showed the most interest in him in speaking with every team. Something to keep an eye out for.
“One of the (Habs) players texted me & said: ‘Lane Hutson is gonna make a run for the Calder this year.’ It’s early, I know that but apparently what this guy’s been telling me is that in the skates the Canadiens have been having, they’re saying: ‘Can you believe what this kid can
It would be funny since habs fans have spent all year talking out Lindstrom, Demidov, Iginla, Catton, Eiserman, Parehk ect...
It's weird that it seems like no one is considering the very real possibility of us getting Celebrini? We probably won't but it's funny we don't see more
Nah
When it looked like Demidov was going to the Hawks, EVERYONE, including Hab fans and well respected people in the industry spoke how Demidov and Michkov were close
Once he went to Montreal, the narrative randomly changed out of nowhere
Here’s my stance. If
#GoHabsGo
drafted Matvei Michkov🇷🇺, the debate would be Michkov🇷🇺 vs. Bedard🇨🇦.
However, because they didn’t, it’s now Michkov🇷🇺 vs. Demidov🇷🇺.

@AnotherKaiju
Tony stark as Doom is by far more interesting
I respect them for actually listening to fans and correcting a story line that people clearly didn't care about
@LeafsAllDayy
@gb_nadeau
That's not the one people are donating to LOL
hahahah bro if you're going to TRY and make a point try not shooting yourself in foot right off the bat
I'll give you another tip (Roasting people for donating to help sick kids isn't a great look)
WE DID IT. AGAIN. IN 2 DAYS. THIS IS INCREDIBLE. Either we are underestimating Habs fans’ generosity, or we have the sickest fanbase in the entire league 🔥
Next goal: 10 000$ to send more patients home for
@TheAngelProjec1
🙏
Juraj Slafkovsky appreciation tweet.
A confident, strong, charismatic, and talented hockey player who just finished high school.
Juraj will do what's necessary to evolve and improve.
He should've played in the AHL. That is all.
#GoHabsGo
I could have lived with Montreal finishing 6th last or 7th last When Dach and caufield were lighting it up and Slaf was having his moments but man...
I want Montreal to get a top 4 pick so badly lol. This team objectively deserves it. They subjectively deserve it the most
Habs Opening Night Line up IMO:
Slaf - Suzuki - Caufield
Newhook - Dach - Roy
Kapanen - Dvorak - Armia
Gally - Evans - Anderson
Pezetta
Matheson - Guhle
Hutson - Savard
Aber - Struble
Barron
I love Barron but at least for game 1, I would start Arber & Struble over him
@xwleblancx
@SuitableAlias
Do people not know MIchkov (D0) faced Demidov's (D-1) team head 2 head in the playoffs & lost?
They were 2-1 in the series and Demidov scored 3 goals in the final 2 games to knock Michkov's team out (he had 1 only assist in the final 2 games)
I thought people knew this?
@the_habitant
Another opinion we both agree on, I think people REALLY don't understand the kind of impact playing the 4th hardest minutes in the NHL on a bottom 5 team on your off side can do to a player
People saying he's just a mid 3/4 D are really sleeping on this kid
At No. 3 in the
@EPRinkside
prospect pool rankings: The Montreal Canadiens. Scouting reports, grades, and projections on 27 of their prospects. A deep and complete system, featuring high-end players and many intriguing projects.
Habs fans are all about hoping for Demidov and I honestly think Lindstrom is a better fit with even more upside.
It's super close so I get why people want Demidov but if he is healthy. I go Lindstrom
Very exciting pick!
Of note: “…the more l've asked around in the last couple of days and the more I've thought about it, the more Silayev has come into focus.”
Also, Silayev said Columbus are one of the teams that have showed the most interest in him ⬇️
After
@sickpodnhldraft
that had Grant pick Sennecke 5th overall for Montreal I have seen a lot of anxiety and mocks that have both Demidov&Lindstrom go in the top 4.
Instead of writing out an 8 page tweet(not my thing), I just dusted off my mic and quickly gave me thoughts
@BarkleySZN_
We all said they were in the same tier, Flyer fans think they aren't.
Tell me, is 114 closer to 100 orrrrr ? 🙄
Also Demidov received more 1st votes than Michkov LOL, can you read LOL? ;)
Un aperçu du 1er avantage numérique du CH? 👀
Caufield, Suzuki, Slafkovsky, Laine et Matheson ont passé près d'une heure sur la patinoire avec Adam Nicholas ce matin.
@levactabarnack
Ottawa hockey club did but they left (which is why they aren't a part of the original 6)
Just like the Montreal maroons don't count
The NHL record books have Ottawa Senators as 0
@OilerAnalytics
Damn this has to hurt lmao tweeting this out only to realize Xhekaj smoked him and only went down because he hurt himself lol
Only person who can beat Xhekaj is Xhekaj LOL
@the_habitant
it's insane because like, I actually don't think I would do it if I was Montreal. I think it is a pretty fair trade but I am honestly so high on Dach right now. I would honestly rather include Suzuki but if Columbus get's 2 I can't see a trade
@CaufieldHabs2
It's his combo of skating, size, rush D / transition offense.
He has really good gap control and stick work and underrated offensive game due to his activation off this rush. His flashes are just less consistent because he plays in the NL and not OHL. his WJC was nasty
Dvorak has looked much better now that they've finally given him wingers that compliment his style
Far from perfect but he looks much better with Kap and Hein than Gally and Anderson
@the_habitant
There's time but honestly couldn't disagree more
Iginla gives me Leonard vibes from last year. We also know he has peak genetics I think he has top line upside and I'd take him over eiserman (as of now)
@SteadyHabs
I can't lie but I honestly think this is a really bad take. I don't think they realistically could have "tanked" better. While I at least agree that Reinbacher was a "safe" pick, Sennecke has the upside of a franchise player. Yes he has more risk, but the tools are there
Laine is a great buy low Candidate. I would love having him pair with Dach.
It's very much dependant on cost and stuff behind closed doors, but in terms of potential? I think he could be a perfect fit and a massive W if things go right.
The best part of Demidov being selected finally brought to light that Montreal didn't have some random, dumb fear against drafting Russians.
They CLEARLY had reservations about some part of his game (on OR off the ice) and valued Rein more given his positional fit
@Presidan
@creststorm
They didn’t like Mich in the end. It’s funny the backlash looking back given they’ve effectively hit on most of their Russian picks, even ones in the same draft.
Their scouts look to have that market covered nicely
This. It's the lack adjustment after Slaf & Guhle that really frustrates me.
No one is annoyed by one's opinion that Michkov will be better than Rein, everyone is annoyed by constant complaining after 1 year by those who did the same with Guhle & Slaf
Learn from your mistakes
@Joey_Bnqz27
Michkov will be fantastic just like Demidov will be fantastic. Reinbacher was the top d-man in that draft for a reason and I still believe has a ton of potential so the constant moaning is just getting old. People just need to give it time
@the_habitant
If Kent listened to Twitter we'd have Nazar and a late 1st lol + Wright and Michkov, can't include Dach and newhook!
I still don't like Slaf and DR over michkov and Wright but we will see :/
I have respected David's opinion for a long time. He has was one of the only people I saw last year to have Jiricek
#2
last year. Him saying Reinbacher might be better than Jiri and Nemec is giving me LIFE right now lol
@JFreshHockey
@Suzy4Selke
@IslesDen
You mean their season after they lost Dannault, Weber, Price and KK? And broke the record in the NHL for player games missed by injury?
The only thing I really DONT want to happen tonight is Demidov or Lindstrom being on the board at 5 and Montreal still passes on him for Buium
I think there's less than 5% chance this happens but I am BEGGING Kent not to do it
I just don't want to deal with the backlash
@xwleblancx
Not to be that guy, I understand that "Building for the playoffs" usually causes more harm than good.
But a guy like Leonard is the kind of player that every team wishes they had come playoff time. Him+PLD+Dach+Slaf with Guhle,Arber and Mailloux(maybe) on the back end?Beast team
He's a cerebral player who thrives on a line that is functional
I'd absolutely start him on an 2nd or 3rd line and give him real games with a full line up
This trade clearly was terrible for Berg but it really shouldn't have been THIS bad.
Guy had 121 points in the OHL (I know the line was stacked but still) and had 4 years of scoring 15+ goals in NHL by 24.
Even his first year w/ Habs was 33 points in 56 games. What happened?
I cheer for wins and goals but I'm absolutely not at the stage where losses upset me lol
Poor play worries me more than finishing bottom 5 although I would like some improvement
Listening to the
@MonteCristo
Oversite Podcast and there is a general consensus that map wins should be the next tie breaker (instead of playing a match). I disagree with this because you basically punish
@TorontoDefiant
for beating LA in 4 maps as oppose to 5. (1/2)
@shaunhashim
My assumption is that we said that SO Monahan would sign with Montreal.
You can't go back on the handshake deal, it burns bridges with other agents
Like this team clearly needed top 5 talent and added 3-4 potential pieces and NONE are currently playing lol
Habs actual window won't open until Dach&Reinbacher are healthy and Demidov is on the team. Until then, it's just about figuring out who is a long term piece vs who
IMO best case scenario for Montreal is to draft one of Demidov / Lindstrom and then trade up to 14 with SJS and take 1 of Sennecke/Iginla/Eiserman/Nygard
Even tho Laine would be fun, I'd rather use those assets to move up
@AlexRolex93
It's still too early to say that. Mailloux missed an entire year + Guhle was out for a year and the truth is, objectively, it doesn't "Limit" his ceiling at all
It DOES reduce the likely hood he reaches it though and it's possible it could result in that
It's not good lol
I really believe Newhook is a top 6 Winger. I thought he played very well last night
I do think Roy fits Laine & Dach better tho. Both Dach and Laine love to have the Puck on their stick. Roy is better off the puck IMO
Main takeaways from last night:
- Kapanen, Heineman and ABB came to play and to win a spot. Some tough decisions ahead.
- Laine and Dach chemistry is developing, each had some great chances and showed glimpses of the impact they can have.
- Hutson did Hutson things.
-
This is been my biggest driver for Rein from the start. People look at simple plays he makes and paint them like the norm for "every NHL D" but that's not the case.
At his age, most D make far more mistakes. Yes Rein has issues and still needs to improve. He can be great tho
I got it at first when everyone was roasting Montreal for the Slaf pick and we had our fun going back and forth
But now that Slaf has seemingly found his success, I hope the kid does well and I would honestly trade for him tomorrow if he was available!
Hutson - Silayev
Guhle - Reinbacher
Arber
Would be an all time great D Core IMO. I also think Mailloux+ gets you a VERY good player (Zegras, Necas, Ect..)
I personally take Demidov or Lindstrom (if healthy) over him, but he's the best in the draft IMO and a clear tier over
@goalcauf
@German_Diver
Even Basu said that they may have to have a conversation about Silayev if the big forwards are gone. Imo we still don't have a bona-fide
#1D
in the system.
@johnpuck1992
@bobgoalie1
Not an Oilers fan but I wouldn't go to hard on this pick. It was weird because of Covid.
Wyatt missed his entire D0 season, had 30 points the year prior and had 4 points in 7 U18 games
Everyone knew the Oilers botched not taking Walstead tho, that was the major throw
@alizada_alikhan
@EricEngels
Romanov for a 6'4 200 pound C who was 3rd overall and played against some of the Best C in the league next year?
100% worth the risk IMO
I'm SHOCKED the amount of people who don't think he will get a 1st.
Not getting a 1st would be a massive L by Hughes assuming he's healthy. He's easily worth it IMO, no question
I'm skeptical about Monahan getting another first for Montreal at the deadline but when you consider who has garnered a first rounder in recent years it's highly likely.
Chiarot
Savard
Coleman
Jeannot
Foligno
Come on.
