On Tuesday November 5th, 2024, my birthday, I will have left for the day from my “Black job” as mayor of the largest, most populous, most diverse, most economically powerful city in the entire state of Wisconsin having voted in my fifth consecutive presidential election.
I will
Herb Kohl was one of Milwaukee's favorite sons and if it weren't for his legacy, there wouldn't be an RNC, DNC, professional basketball, or any number of large acts in Wisconsin.
As soon as I learned that the honorary sign bearing his name was covered, I reached out to
New RNC signage is turning "Herb Kohl Way" into "Donald J. Trump Way."
Kohl was a longtime Democratic senator who famously kept the Bucks in Milwaukee as a condition of his sale of the team. He died in December

@CavalierJohnson
is doing a "horrible job" as mayor.
In Milwaukee we’ll grow our population towards 1,000,000 people.
We will:
🚴🏽♀️Build a citywide protected bike network
☀️Increase renewal energy use
👷🏼♂️Create & attracting good jobs
🌳Plant more trees
🚊Promote density & transit oriented development
🌊Protect our waters
In Milwaukee, we’re not surprised by Giannis’ humility, generosity, and humanity. It’s part of what makes him tick and why we love him so much in our community.
Glad that you got to witness this through your son’s incredible experience with

I was in the room with

when this dropped and it is stunningly powerful.
It speaks to very essence of the two men running to serve as our president and highlights the wide gap, the stark differences, between them.
The choice is very clear.
This isn’t about
Wow. You may have seen a short version of the North America Building Trade Union (

Today, over 250 Democratic Mayors from across the country issued the following statement to endorse Vice President

As we think long term, having a sea of parking and no development around American Family Field is a wasted opportunity and does not serve Milwaukee’s future well.

I can’t speak as to what’s happening in California’s major cities but, here in Wisconsin’s major city, we never defunded the police.
In fact, my 2023 budget increased funding for law enforcement by $20 million and in 2024, my city budget funds the maximum number of police
During my recent visit to Milwaukee, the number one issue I heard from folks that they're concerned about is the rise of crime in our major cities.
The left's dystopian vision of de-funding the police is not how we make our cities safer.
You have my word, I'll ALWAYS have the

We went to Calderon Club for some delicious pizza and soda then off to Milwaukee Public Schools Recreation’s 18th Daddy Daughter Dance.

Great to have Vice President
@KamalaHarris
back in the center of the political universe — Milwaukee, Wisconsin!
Four years ago at the Democratic National Convention hosted virtually here in Milwaukee, Kamala Harris accepted our party’s nomination to run for vice president.
Welcome back to Milwaukee,
@POTUS
Joe Biden!
Happy to have you back here again to speak about Investing In America — especially in Black-owned businesses!
Today was filled with many memorable moments from President
@JoeBiden
’s visit to Milwaukee.
We’ll celebrate the $36 million
@USDOT
grant (thanks for the call today by the way, Secretary
@PeteButtigieg
!) that will accelerate my administration’s goals of building a more connected
1. The City isn’t
2. As mayor, I want EVERY eligible voter to cast a ballot regardless of party
3. Milwaukee is home to many democrats but also boasted ~50k GOP votes in ‘20
4. “Tip the scales?” In a 50/50 state with deep majorities in both Legislative bodies held by one party…
I’m game. We shouldn’t allow partisan bickering to get in the way of what’s best for the city — and therefore best for the state. There are political differences, yes, but we can focus on the areas where there is common ground. Real AND workable solutions.
You know what I would like to see? Our Governor, Republican leaders of the assembly and senate, the attorney general, Milwaukee's mayor, police chief and sheriff all come together to talk about solutions to crime in the city. Is that too much to ask?
One of my biggest pet peeves is parking — whether surface or only a structure, that doesn’t realize its highest and best use.
With Davidson Park,

Folks have tried to spin my support of UW in the recent basketball game with Marquette University to be anti-city or far flung political.

Milwaukee is waiting for you and your positive contributions to our neighborhoods, culture, and economy.

Thank you, Milwaukee!
With your continued support, our campaign for re-election to the mayor’s office won the primary election with over 80% of the vote!
Let’s carry our momentum to the general election on Tuesday, April 2nd so that we can continue moving our city forward!
According to
@axios
, Milwaukee has the 3rd largest gain of millennial homeowners in the country.
That means people are laying down roots in our city again, stabilizing neighborhoods and, helping to drive forward our goal of growing the city.

I’ve got a vision to grow Milwaukee and large, global events like the RNC help to shine a light on our city.
The RNC will lead to other large scale political, sports, entertainment, and business events choosing Milwaukee which in turn, supports local jobs and our economy.
DA Toney, my proposed budget actually INCREASES funding to MPD. If you’re not compelling folks in your party (which controls the Legislature!) to provide funding to adequately support public safety, then you’re not serious about public safety.
Milwaukee’s not your punching bag.
At a time when Milwaukee Police are already short nearly 250 officers, Milwaukee Mayor Cavalier Johnson proposed cutting the budget for police officers by 1% - which equates to the loss of about 17 officers.
Streets are for everybody and in Milwaukee, we’re making them:
🚶🏾♀️Easier for pedestrians
✋🏼Calmer for autos
🚴🏼♂️Friendlier for bikers
No matter how you get around the city, we won’t stop until it’s safer for everyone.

We continue to move Milwaukee forward and cities across the country are taking notice.
In the last year, we’ve hosted a number of municipal and business leaders — republicans and democrats — visiting our city to listen and learn.
The Wall Street Journal reported on the recent
As I said when we declared victory last night —
“I know that together, we can forge a path towards a brighter tomorrow – and not just for our city, but for ALL of Wisconsin…”
All of Wisconsin.
I mean that.
Thank you, and let’s keep it up

🎉WIN: Milwaukee Mayor
@CavalierJohnson
has won re-election!
Mayor Johnson’s work to improve infrastructure and safety, and support public schools will continue. Congratulations!
Voting in Wisconsin, including in Milwaukee, is safe, secure, and reliable. We’d love to count absentee votes faster, but that’s up to the Legislature. Anyone who says different just ain’t being straight with you.
Passenger rail helps people get to work, boosts tourism, and grows our local economies.
I voted for the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law to help get Wisconsinites where they need to go efficiently and safely, and I’m excited to see these plans for passenger rail move forward!
The notion of some that the City of Milwaukee and its residents on the northwest side, who have dealt with a massive, blighted, unsafe eyesore and public safety nuisance for 20+ years, should immediately endorse the first proposal that comes along — even if it’s a low impact use
At least 7 more fires at the eye sore that is the former Northridge Shopping Center. It is impossible to describe exactly how stupid the City's decision to not facilitate the sale of the property several months ago was. Typical Milwaukee cluelessness.

Here’s a crazy thought: How about we listen to the voters and leaders of communities that will be most adversely affected by a second Trump presidency?

is.
These are the words of a president.
I am inspired, and not just as a voter — I’m inspired as an American and I will proudly vote for Joe’s re-election on
Biden: I know I’m not a young man… I don’t speak as smoothly as I used to, I don’t debate as well as I used to, but I know how to tell the truth. I know right from wrong. And I know how to get things done. When you get knocked down, you get back up

Matt, so you insult a woman’s physical appearance because you dislike her husband?
I don’t know if you’re married, engaged, or even have a girlfriend but I can tell you that A) it’s difficult and B) you can sometimes say things here that aren’t very likable so C) be careful with
Milwaukee has to grow.
We’ve got to grow because we need to retain our homegrown talent, attract new talent, grow local businesses, welcome new businesses with family-supporting careers, and grow our population as well.

Milwaukee is building infrastructure so folks can get around better regardless of if they walk, use a scooter, bike, wheelchair, or drive.
The most important part is that we’re making it safer.

I thank my friend

As Milwaukee city council president and an election worker I don’t appreciate the baseless attacks that you’re making about my city. As a Biden voter, I can tell you that every person treated all ballots the same regardless of who was voted for. The election is over and you lost.
Biden did poorly in big cities (Politico), except those of Detroit (more votes than people!), Philadelphia, Atlanta and Milwaukee, which he had to win. Not surprisingly, they are all located in the most important swing states, and are long known for being politically corrupt!
Surface parking lots don’t allow the city to tell her full story.

The administration of
@POTUS
has awarded a $12-million grant to improve Milwaukee's urban forests.
It prioritizes increased planting and maintenance of trees, depaving schoolyards, and growing the urban forestry workforce. The work will be focused in disadvantaged areas.
Is there a law or rule that states no other building in Milwaukee can be taller than the US Bank building? It's a perfectly fine building, but it was built in 1972. (I was 2.) I think it would be fun to see something go higher.
