We started placing new jersey barriers on the Hawley Rd viaduct to provide better protection to the existing bikeways. This work will continue as weather allows. The same will be done to the North Ave bridge. Later this spring we'll add additional features to enhance bikeways. 🚴♀️

In a raffle to raise funds for the City’s Combined Giving Campaign, Senior Transportation Planner Kate Riordan won Commissioner Kruschke’s parking spot for a week.

Please be patient as crews work around the clock to clear streets during this long duration event. The snow is constantly falling so even after our crews have been down a street more snow falls. There are 7000 lane miles in Milwaukee. Crews will work until all streets are clear.

Our traffic calming projects are progressing with the initial series including gateways to parks. The traffic circle at 41st & Locust (Sherman Park) was recently painted. Near Riverside Park, pinned on curb extensions will make it more difficult for drivers to pass on the right.

DPW crews have been actively addressing concerns regarding hard packed snow and layers of ice, the result of the drastic drop in temperature. Tomorrow crews will apply a layer of salt with a calcium chloride brine on all roadways covered with hard pack snow and ice.
