@tgariley @DrEilidhMaria Are we still subject to that? I worry that we’re not!

@chiversenz @DrEilidhMaria Or more GPs to do preventative care, long before these patients get to the urgent stage?

@indomitorum @trentconsultant There are still plenty in the NHS working overtime for free. NHS staff are generally incredibly generous and caring people, and their goodwill is unfortunately taken for granted!😢 Good on you for setting boundaries.

@Louisdebernard @heidi_ed @RCEMpresident Still only works if there is a free bed for the patient to be seen in. Agree with others that the problems may be further along in the hospital’s Entry-treatment-exit pathways.

@traineENT @mrthomasjacques @tb_doc Worth keeping a log of how many hours you are actually onsite, travelling in, giving phone advice etc. Remember doing it in 90’s for BMA’s hours campaigns then.

@cathjw @trishgreenhalgh @NSivayoham Very good analogy. Many patients just need the obvious immediate issue dealt with. Many others have several, intertwined issues.

@Lokistrada @Ask_foradoctor That may be the case in some places. It’s not in UK. There is a lot of theory and also a lot of practical training.

@Ask_foradoctor Hmmm, being a good GP makes me a good GP. It doesn’t automatically make me good at being a programme director though. Someone who has expertise in management, training and coaching might actually be a better fit for the job…which this person might be.

@MikeWhi29270353 @DrHFRyan The system could be available at all times, but we need more GPs available to answer all those queries! I don’t think any area of NHS is over-staffed at the moment, but we seriously need more GPs

@resentfulnurse @DrEmmaNash Seriously, do they all have consultants? And do they have consultants that they can access easily and when needed?

@thisandtatt @Vampfree1110228 @LadyLoulie So the issue isn’t the mode of access, it’s the number of appointments available. Complain to your politicians. Primary Care needs more funding in order to employ more staff in order to have more appointments available.

@ProfGrahamTowl @allanson_j @wesstreeting @keepnhspublic @SocialistNHS Public health needs a LOT more funding. Might even make the population healthier.

@mistyjade73 @gooseman68 @Kurtis1978 @HeidiBriones Wasn’t the age of becoming an adult 21 in those days?

@mandrina_queen @vsethmt @HeidiBriones How long ago are we talking and where? They may well have done all the school they were ever going to get by the age of 12.

@SocietyQueen999 @Kurtis1978 @HeidiBriones I could be 18 and have that as my occupation so that’s not the shocking bit here! But yes, I agree, it makes it more obvious how young she was.

@marija24 @HeidiBriones @Kurtis1978 Didn’t know that. But is there a minimum age? (Eg. 16 seems incredibly young, but it’s better than 9!)
