@GhoshENTsurgeon @SecretPhysician Goodness sake. It’s a crystal clear deliberate attempt to mislead, and physician absolutely is a protected title. The problem does not lie with those calling it out.

@LittlePersonDoc @walsh_joe @jmesillett No not an easy path, but the right fit for some people, and some clear advantages over regional training programmes. Many advantages for departments as well.

@walsh_joe @RCEMpresident @EddCarlton Though on the plus side it does mean they can put their name in writing to their decisions.

@walsh_joe @RCEMpresident @EddCarlton I’d settle for them just accepting referrals without a battle tbh

@TJCoats @RCEMpresident @EddCarlton See also “add it to induction” as a standard response to every incident.

@LittlePersonDoc @Mike88881221 @ImperialNHS It does seem like either they are in a very student-like observer role (in which case pay seems excessive) or they are being actively trained to perform paediatric surgery? Presumably in place of residents?

EM hive mind. Given the cavalry appear not to be coming over the horizon, and that patient experience in our departments is heart breakingly poor for many, are there any patient experience initiatives that have worked in your departments to mitigate the awfulness? #medtwitter

@LittlePersonDoc @JackieSham @hlnewey The amount of discretionary effort from most consultants involved in keeping service and training running is significant, and is the first thing to go when services don’t value and support their staff.

@karen_kelland @RCollEM @ShaunLintern This would be 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for many departments. Which would focus minds at least.

@MichelePaduano @vivekkhashu @davehartin @WorcsAcuteNHS The thing not happening within the community that would make a difference, is adequately resourced, responsive and joined up social care. Attempts at reducing attendance DO NOT WORK, across multiple iterations over at least 30 years, and there’s plenty of evidence to this effect
