For anyone commenting about visas I understand the situation but people seeking asylum shouldn't need a visa, another way the home office is profiting from human misery.
Just my annual

try and look for the many small businesses like my own that are holding sales. Its not all about Amazon and we need support now more than ever.

Same here, my Latvian grandad told me and my Ukrainian grandad had passed away never having trusted them again. I heard it but I never felt like I really understood it until more recent times.
@redhead_ophelia
Speaking as diaspora growing up in Britain, there are still so many people who haven't got the faintest idea what russia has done either in the past or now. I'm happy to explain to anyone genuine (not tankie halfwits)
@mufc_Mark_
@juiceboxtals
Everyone wanting to claim asylum has a right to have their case heard. And issues with local funding are down to councils and governments, we can spaff money on a ridiculous royal yacht but we can't afford to help people suffering ?
Meanwhile in Russia: state TV propagandists discussed the need for secretly cultivating Western politicians that suit the Kremlin's agenda, in order to rule the world after defeating America in a nuclear war.
Meanwhile in Russia: appearing on state TV, Igor Markov asserted that Russia must liquidate Ukraine and the very notion of being Ukrainian has to be eradicated.
A. He won't name the bloody aggressor
B He's forgotten to mention they were illegally occupying Ukraine
And C he's once again suggested giving up land for "peace", meaning allow millions to face murderous occupiers intent on repression and torture.
So the attack was real, America warned russia it was imminent, russia ignored America and are now trying to say the IS confession is false because really putin would love to blame Ukraine , do I have that right ?! 😵💫🫨
Meanwhile in Russia: state TV propagandists and experts were positively giddy about Trump's pick of his running mate, in light of J.D. Vance's stance that they see as a catastrophe and a nightmare for Ukraine—and a dream come true for the Kremlin.
@thehillycity
@ukhomeoffice
We are underfunded which is down to the government, big difference. Ask them why they can pay millions out in dodgy PPE contracts that we receive nothing for yet can't properly fund towns and welfare.
A perfect illustration of what today’s Russia is.
A flag proudly pinned over lifeless ruins that used to be one of Ukraine’s fastest-developing cities.

"Starting Monday, mothers who give birth in the occupied part of the
#Luhansk
region will be unable to take their kids home if they or their partner do not have russian citizenship."
Ask Ukrainians again why they will avoid living under russian occupation at all costs.
It's been about 2 weeks since russia attacked a hospital full of kids, and where have the consequences been ? All it tells them is that they can just keep causing mass civilian casualty events, and nothing will touch them. Very painful for Ukrainians to watch the non-response
Big twitter hug to all the people working with refugees finding the nationality and borders bill fully depressing and horrific on top of everything else. We will keep helping those we can and we don't give up 🧡

This lady simply worked in a museum and was subjected to horrific torture for 6 years after returning to Donbas to see her sick mother. This is what russia does to Ukrainian civilians under occupation.
Yesterday Olena Pekh was swapped.
She was a scholar working in the Gorlivka Art Museum (the part of Donbas occupied since 2014). She left but had to return to her ill mother when she was arrested, detained, and "convicted" for over 13 years. She was 6 years in captivity 1/

Sorry for your loss Alice 💔 and thank you for sharing his story.
I ran your photos through an app to clear them up a little ( if they could be )
I've been busy making some Ukrainian themed jewellery, each item sold will include a donation to trusted

Overnight, russia killed an 85 year old lady after aiming a bomb at her home in Kharkiv. They're using chemical weapons along the frontlines, and they've proudly posted a video of them executing more POWs.
Ukrianians are defending Europe and yet being ignored.
@maksymeristavi
Everyone makes the point over and over it "could be" the rest of Europe next, and even that's not enough to wake people.
My point would be it shouldn't *have to be* Ukrainians. We have the tools to stop this. When ?
@davidtbeito
This is what happens if you try and make agreements with russia. And in case you missed it - last time Ukraine went to the negotiation table , the russians poisoned people 😐
To those with short memories:
Between 2014 and 2022, Ukraine held about 200 rounds of talks with Russia.
During this period, 20 cease-fire agreements were reached, all of which were quickly violated by Russia.
None of the 200 rounds of talks or the 20 ceasefires have prevented
@Maks_NAFO_FELLA
@TuckerCarlson
Tucker thinks they travelled 40 miles north of the Arctic circle to a max security prison and took him out without a single russian noticing
Meanwhile in Russia: hosts and experts on state television explained Putin's statements from his most recent interview with Dmitry Kiselyov and latched on to the key phrase about "the ball of vampires" Putin used to describe the West.
@stephenwertheim
@politico
You're actually disgusting. They're dying every day to protect Europe which is much more than any other force or organisation has done.
@AndriiKatriuk
Just to add to your theme one of our cousins recently got released in a prisoner exchange and he'd defended Mariupol , nobody new where he was for 2 years so there's always the hope
@MargoGontar
Thank you for putting in the effort to translate even though it must have been difficult. Illia and others like him need to be heard and understood widely
I'm amplifying Ukrainian voices today because it's the only thing I can practically do right now. Please read and help if you can even if it's only a retweet.
Seeing Ukrainians unearthing their beautiful flag theyd hidden because the Russians were coming reminds me of the story of my family in Latvia burying a "priceless" violin for the same reason. 🇺🇦💔🇱🇻
@reshetz
In the UK our government bought "ppe" for the pandemic and gave their friends contracts to supply it many of them never having done so before then. Much of it was faulty or never even existed and yet they all got paid. But yes it's "Eastern Europe" that has a problem
Ukrainians are rightly pointing out they are dying daily, and its so normalised in people's minds that it barely makes waves in the news. russia is responsible, and they get so much leeway given to them, especially considering the horror they inflict on Ukraine.
@johndurant
@GaiaLiberty
So you'd suggest condemning them to torture and death so you didn't need to get involved in an imaginary nuclear war? Listen to yourself. P*tin is relying on this cowardly mindset to continue genocide.
@wickdchiq
Maybe because hate breeds more hate, and I don't particularly like being called a n*zi as punishment for my roots. It's also killing innocent people daily because it's a line straight from russia.
@i_gil_
@UniofNottingham
I have also emailed them your tweet and asked them if they're comfortable with a member of their staff harassing Ukrainians online.
@castletongreene
100% they're being very frustrating right now. The weapons would be bad enough but the attitude in the statements really isn't helping
One of my Ukrainian friends told me I should consider myself Ukrainian and that I'm a good person. Honestly thought it was so lovely, such a big hearted people despite everything they've had to endure recently 🫶
